Hi sifus2, been browsing for adjustable suspension for my ride recently, came across with HWL brand series of ST1 and MT1BS.
besides ST1 (15 steps) vs MT1BS (24 steps), is there any other differences between these 2 series in terms of long lasting/QC or build materials etc?

you want comfort you stay stock suspension only, or go for better absorber with digressive damping so it can slightly improve handling too

front wheel drive car shouldn't use front stiff rear soft setup, maybe for comfort but definitely not for handling

i dont know how many owners from car group took out their adjustable the next day they install because it is too stiff doh.gif

spring rate should be customizable, you should be able contact them and let them know your preferred spring rate

another important thing that most of the owner doesn't ask is what kind of damping curve that the absorber using, is it linear, progressive or digressive?

Doesn't help when 9 out of 10 adjustables are not tuned properly from the first place and meant to compete on prices only. All adjustables do is just put super stiff spring without taking into account of frequencies and damping valving

Damping wise, unsure.
Difference is the steps.

HWL problem is rear need to cut the rear bumpstop.
So beware. If not you will hit the bumpstop too early and feel bumpy.

I find the ST1 lightly firm but with my driving style, I can easily bottom it out. laugh.gif

My friend was using ST1, even after I help setup still bumpy at the rear.
In the end change to Ftuned CLS + Proride sports absorber.

Depends on what you use your car for, but generally front soft rear stiff about 2k difference, for example if front is 8k then rear is 10k

Square setup is more if all rounder and you can use the soft hard adjustment to fine tune the ride to either oversteer rear stiff setup or daily drive understeer bias

Tyres size matters as well, but generally same width same model for front rear is recommended unless your car is having staggered setup from factory

I am currently using this combo on the front. At the rear i am using fts shocks. Problem is, the front is too low that it compromised the lower arm geometry (I don't care about finger measurements btw).
I am actually thinking of changing to HWL ST1 as its not that expensive compared to other HLSH+BS absorbers.
How much more uncomfortable is it compared to ftuned cls?
What spring rate your friend were using before?

How low? Lower arm pointing upward?

I would say not much but you do feel a bit more uncomfortable.
For rear you need to remove the stock bumpstop/stopper, if not it be hitting it and be very harsh.
Ftuned CLS alone doesn't really determined the harshness/comfort, is more with what shock absorber you pair with.

I think spring rate was what it came with, front 6k, rear 4k+helper

Correct, lower arm is already straight on normal load, which means when cornering, it will point up more. Even after installing extended ball joint, its still not enough. Previously it was slightly higher when the front was using fts shocks. I really can lean more into the corner. But the problem is that shock doesn't even last 1 year. Feel softened already.

Rear bumpstop already cut abit by ftuned.

If its only slightly uncomfortable, maybe I'll just just bite the bullet and go with it 😬.

Owh your roll centre is f up. laugh.gif
I'm interested in the extended ball joint for myvi. (FYI, I don't have a myvi).
Never seen for myvi before.

Just a warning, my level of being uncomfortable is quite high tolerance. icon_rolleyes.gif

I try to search and can't find for myvi also. I am using proton gen-2. Buy at shopee only 😁.

Quite high tolerance? Meaning for normal people is very uncomfortable? Or the other way around?

I thought you were using myvi. lol
Those extended ball joint works very little, since they mostly move the centreline of the arm only rather than move the roll centreline.
The ball part of the ball joint need to be move with the arm (downward).

For some people maybe uncomfortable, I been used to uncomfortable suspension for a long time. laugh.gif
