On the go very usefull. Easy peasy

Unless u use it for heavy duty it is not. But ive only test the Go version

If surface pro , i think its can coop but not for gaming

Just the price is u can biy other better specification..lel

depends on your use case. great for document annotation, medium workload (light CAD, low requirements gaming), easy to bring around, nice keyboard, decent webcam and speakers for video call.

but expensive.

If you need tablet, just go for ipad.

If you need windows on the move, then buy the most expensive (specs) surface you can afford.

I got the old first gen surface, heavy as fuck but a pretty great media consumption device (watch video/read ebook or manga). Touch screen only navigation still sucks though. The charger cable got adapter from usb c sold online, so easy to charge.

As someone mentioned before, depends on what you will be using it for. My household: 2 Surface Pros, 1 Surface Go. Love the portability of a proper Windows device, but hate the fabric on the keyboard which tends to fray at the sides and becomes discoloured with prolonged use. The keyboard itself is nice to type on though despite looking rather flimsy.

I use it to mainly read news/ surf internet just before bedtime.

Got an aging ipad mini 4 that has become very slow with each new iOS update.

But ipad mini price has gone up to RM2200 now, someone recommend me to have a look at surface...

I also like to bring laptop to cafe to chill and do work (typing mostly) and read forum only

sounds like you want an ipad. if media consumption you want it to turn on fast, not like windows need to start up and asyik update. also battery life will lose to any tablet 10 streets.

at RM2200 you're still not going to find a decent surface, not even a surface go. maybe bite the bullet and go for an ipad, with a bluetooth keyboard when you need to type. secondhand market also can find good stuff.

so you are considering Go 2 right?

avoid the base model. mid model with at least 8gb/128ssd will be fine for casual usage

otherwise better go for base model iPad (128gb, latest gen)

If for media consumption, ipad is better. Comparing Surface Pro 8 to normal laptop, Surface's screen got significant glare and are not really for long time use. Your eyes maybe tired from its brightness and glare.

Surface does look good and professional. The price is at the high side but Lotus sometimes got offer. I felt the screen is a bit small, 15.6" notebook is better in office use if u dont carry it around. The keyboard is not as good as the old version.

Still, I am using Surface Pro 8 due to apps compatibility and portability. Not much choice for me.

Park also, would like to know more about it. Contemplating whether going on ipad air or microsoft surface. but there are too many surface (7, 8, pro, book, studio etc) until I also confuse. Not to mention that those additional accessories also not cheap

The only reason im considering for surface it is because of window and portable.

avoid surface like a plague.
1. damn difficult to open to upgrade/replace/repair. must get a replacement screen before attempting to open
2. some surface firmware got a stupid fking bug that can brick your keyboard port. nothing you do can bring that back.
3. very underpowered, unless you can trim and debloat your windows install
4. when it runs hot screen will flicker. leave it like that for some time and in a year your surface will refuse to turn on.

so far so good for my surface pro 6, almost on 24/7 since 2019

keyboard kaput once maybe cos frequent detaching and bought replacement from tesco for almost 300+ (cheapest around)

only qualms is only one usb port and storage not upgradable except for the micro SD slot. So buy the latest one which allow SSD upgrade

If you are talking about Surface Pro , the main selling point is the touch screen and stylus. Only buy if you need those capability. Other than that , i think other manufacturers have similar item for much cheaper price. I have reviewed a similar HP unit before. Their wifi is better.

And if you break that screen on a Surface Pro , it is RM1200. You have to return the unit to Microsoft , they give you another unit. Your data of course is gone.

if you want to use it to replace iPad, no, it's not

it's literally just a very portable windows laptop with touchscreen, that's all
it's still a windows device, app support is still windows

I'm using surface pro 7+ (16gb ram, 512gb ssd)

Good for normal usage

Light gaming like asphalt is decent

Battery also lasts quite long

Handy enough, serves the purpose (work related)

But I'm still getting another notebook for gaming / rendering purposes

surface pro4 user here, until i jpgraded to redmibook 15 ryzen.

well during my ownership of about 8 years, i replaced once due to screen bleeding very nad at about 4 years use. other than that, it fulfilled my business portable laptop needs. i dont do programming on it, just run some accounting software, excel, online surfing, and light windows gaming like asphalt and manga.

the battery is getting weaker, keyboard port is not sensitive is my grouses. other than that is ok.

as im doing more photoshop, illustrator, and premier pro now, the 4gb ram just dont cut it and i upgraded to ryzen 7 5800H redmibook with 16gb ram. sky and land difference in performance LOL

Replying using my Surface Pro 7 here. i7, 16gb, 256 ssd.

So far in my experience, everything is usable, efficient, no problem at all. Going out for meeting and doing stuff like zoom meeting, skype call, fb call is smooth, and the workload it can take is powderful enuf to make it a perfect laptop for light use.

Unless you're trying to go overboard with photochop, studio, or whatever demanding software, its a very good and efficient machine that you can easily use on your own, share with others, and so.

BTW, I would suggest not going for surface Go unless you're super tech savvy or light user. I myself have Surface Studio in home (for gaming lolz), surface pro 7 to go out (as I write webnovels), New Surface Studio (foldable, for kitchen use, regret buying... loads of marks on the magnet to bottom of keyboard part.) and Surface Go for watching netflix on bed.

Surface Go is literally the equivalent to Samsung A tablet, only ngam to do something here there. Open over 3 youtube in a shot, GG.com.

But convenient wise, yes, its amazing, and you'll wont regret for even buying it.
