Its a relatively fast growing tree. Wood not particularly durable, but the wood grain is very nice. Depending on the cut, mixture of heartwood contrasting with sapwood can be quite nice. Price point is relatively good. Wont be able to find a large slab of other well-known hardwood with the same price nowadays. Need to make sure the slab is adequately kiln dry, or cut years ago, naturally dried. Nowadays mass market, so relatively fresh slabs are sold without being adequately dry, which makes it prone to warping and cracks later on. Careful of slabs that come from Indonesia. For local sources, ask first before buying. Try get those with moisture <20%.With wood prices so high nowadays, even fruit tree slabs like jackfruit and durian are made into nice table tops.
