I need to get a phone for the wife, her phone died. She is a big Huawei supporter and loves the P series for the cameras. She would not consider iPhone. (Also out of budget, lol.)
My budget is RM3000-RM3100. Maybe RM3200.

I noticed if I pushed abit more to RM3500-ish , I could get the P40 Pro 's old stock - OR the new Samsung S22 (RM3499) . But S22 front camera not as good as P40 Pro.

Big question - Am I retarded and making a big mistake buying older model P40 Pro? Or should I bite it, and push my budget for P50 Pro , for long term? Since she likes the better cameras on the P series.

Have you check any of the Sony phone series?
True Camera Phone have to go for Sony Smart Phone. The interface is superd for Camera

Nothing wrong going 1 or 2 gens older if you’re getting ex-flagships.

Newer gens are mostly refinement or ridiculous improvement not only essential to 99% of the population (like those 100+W charging, good to have but most can live with 30+W charging just as fine).

The main issue you need to face here is the lack of Google services. Also huawei regressed in their flagships specs after they got sanctioned and have issues getting 5G replacements.

Depends your budget. Huawei phone quite tahan lama.

I think it's fine, that's not a bad model.

No issue in buying old model as long as its still functional, and like u said aim for its camera..beside can look for P50 pro la bro since the price now aroudn 3.6K if im not mistaken

No issue buying older model but make sure by at authorize shop to prevent getting the refurnish set.

But Why?

P50 Pro is only RM 3,679.00 which is very closed to the price of P40 Pro you get. The differences is around +/- RM 180 only, IMHO is not worth getting year ago model.

If TS haven bought the phone, maybe can try looking at Xiaomi 11 Ultra? Just a suggestion, and you wont crack your head to install google in P40/50.
