I was charged rm320 for cabin filter replacement at a Mazda Service Centre (Thrive Glory).. was just wondering if there’s additional thing that they do other than swapping old filter with a new one? New filter is less than rm30 (online). The price difference just doesnt make any sense.. Mazda 3 Skyactiv btw…

No. They just swap the cabin air filter. This is a huge profit item. If your car is out of warranty and no more free service, just buy filter online and change it yourself. Very very easy. I own several Skyactiv models.

mazda sc like to overcharge on small consumable items like this, the filter itself is only RM20 even those active carbon filter type is just RM5 more expensive, you can get cheaper by buying in bulk from china with 'Made in Japan' printed + 'Genuine' mazda box

the Ori spark plug and brake pad also not worth the money too

Dont own a Mazda, but you maybe able to check the pricing for the part at other SC branches.

From my experience, pricing if misc parts like these are not really controlled across all the SCs.

Fulamak.... 300 bucks for cabin filter. I expect them to disassemble the dash board to replace it. But its just like most other car accessible through glove box.

RM 320 is crazy expensive. Previously my Civic FC T Ori from Honda only 103+. Now after warranty i just buy online Bosch filter for RM 50+.. dare not try the 20-30 oem filter yet.. lol

Cabin filters have few types and can be very different (price & quality). Carbon infused, electrostatic and so on. LOL...later I got video on this. No time to do editing.

Honda SC charges about RM100 for City cabin filter. I thought cekik darah dy, looks like Mazda lagi expensive.

There are parts that you can be cheapskate on, and it wont hurt your car.

Cabin filter is one of it. Your car wont suddenly go total breakdown just because you use an OEM filter.

Some other parts are like fuse, relays, wipers, batteries.

They are pretty much standard in the industry. If u dont mind spending more for that 'authenthic' logo that they slap on the packaging, yeah go ahead.

Now you know Mazda original parts expensive.. LOL
When buy new Mazda say free parts & maintenance, but hidden cost and parts which is not included in the package... Well...
If cheapskate and dont care about warranty can just venture out for alternate source, but at least go for carbon type cabin filter nowadays..
Some cheapo cabin filter really use quite low par material, so try to get the middle range.

easy to swap, just need to make sure the model is correct to avoid any unwanted side effects.
