Leaked agreement: Indonesian domestic workers’ base pay at RM1,500

Strict rules for the protection of Indonesian domestic workers, including a minimum wage of RM1,500, will be imposed on Malaysian employers, according to the April 1 memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Malaysia and Indonesia.

Human Resource Minister M Saravanan had previously issued a statement with a summary of the MOU’s contents but Malaysiakini today sighted the full document as shared by industry sources in Jakarta, Indonesia.

My self-employed part time maid, work a few hours here, a few hours there, and of the day, can go home relax. Every month she getting over RM2K. Minus makan and rental, still more than RM1.5k la..

When i young memang ada. SYT... instead of working at factory, babyseat us when our mama pergi kerja. Do light cooking n house work. Go back own house, dun stay with us. 5 days week nia.. Where they disappear 2 now? Nvr hear of local maid for a long while now... prefer work factory? Bodo kan?

Imagine gov impose 1.5k min wage just for sake of this memo. Kita jaga indon.

Minimum wage for hiring Indon maid in Singapore is SGD550. Filipino maid is SGD570.

Malaysia hiring Filipino maid is minimum RM1600 or USD400. I think Indon is still RM1200 for now, but going to increase RM1500. I think it is only fair.

i don't think there will be much indon maid coming to MY if according to that agreement unless that RM1.5k is minimum wage

because right now every other country other than malaysia is offering higher salary and benefits
HK right now...the families there are willing to pay top dollar for a maid...they even pay everything for u until u reach their door step
