Hi,
Is it true to get a (at least) 100Mbps of Read Speed  SD card for better performance on DashCam? To avoid choppy recording.

Any recommendations?
*
not only you need high read speed but high reliability also.

budget is samsung evo plus 128gb.

recommended are samsung pro endurance or sandisk high endurance series or any "endurance" 128gb cards.

get 128gb capacity or at least 64gb.
32gb or lower the cards will die faster.

same here. got bad experiences with sandisk too.
the card cant tahan high speed writing end up corrupt and failed to write even with those class10.

then use samsung evo in my dashcam, go pro, helmet camera, cctv etc. no issue at all
*
which sandisk you guys use?
the white and gray one?

Last Sandisk to RIP was > 5 years ago, can't remember its colour.
*
the white and gray ones really not reliable.
the red and gray ones are better.

just don't get the lowest end class 10 SD card
*
all will be class 10 nowadays.
but for dashcam its recommeded to the the UHS class speed 3 aka U3/V30 class especially if your recording 4k.

minimum sequential writing speed of U3 30mbps vs class10(U1) 10mbps.

I was using  Sandisk in Blackvue DR400 - the ancestor of all Blackvue dash cams. It kept rebooting after a while. Replaced new Sandisk card and it would behave well only for a short while. I thought it was due to ageing dashcam, because it was doing well when new (but using other brand of sd card).

Replaced dash cam, used back same card and baru realised card was faulty.
*
nowadays they have cards specifically for dash cams with high endurance.
these cards have higher write / rewrite times and higher tolerance to temperature for reliability.

but tat being said, it still comes down to luck as no manufacturing is 100% perfect.

DDPAI seems a lot of users! What's the best price now & any recommended seller (Shopee)?
I saw some stated Class 10, in fact only speed @ 80Mbps 🤷🏻‍♂️
Oh... Samsung! I used for Computer, 😆
How much around for 64GB?
The "endurance" means? Would be stated on the card? Only Samsung Card?
Wow... Another confirmation of Samsung Power! Haha 👍🏻
Which model & seller recommended?
Wow ... Samsung again! I think I should! 😂
SanDisk Class 10 means cheating speed!
I'm currently with SanDisk HC Class 10! But Choppy! I think it might be only 80Mbps 🙄

Yeah but Sandisk from that era was performing significantly worse than Samsung from that era.

If I am going to replace my SD card, I won't consider Sandisk unless it's priced significantly lower.

i see, class 4 laugh.gif

that time those high speed class 10 cards when they were first introduced all the brands have some reliability issue back then especially for video recording.

extreme pro?
128gb is around rm130

get the high endurance sandisk 128gb around rm100.

but beware a lot of fakes out there so buy from reputable seller or official store only.

err.. i'm not sure about that haha. For me as long as it is within my budget and from reputable brand / seller, can la.. (but reading from comments here, wow Sandisk kinda notorious yo  shocking.gif )
*
sandisk reputation took a hit for 2 reasons.

1) their low end cards really have quality issues last time.
2) sandisk was the brand with the most fake products back then.

remember go pasar they selling 32gb sandisk sd card for rm10 only last time? brows.gif

Few month ago try check disk on pc, no error
I only set 1080p 30fps, not sure can support 1080p 60fps or not, because card only show class 10
*
sandisk red and gray is quite reliable compared to the white and gray type.

AFAIK, warranty does not cover usage in dashcams or CCTVs. Not sure if things have changed though.
*
QUOTE(juzmafia @ Apr 4 2022, 11:07 PM)
Uh?

The card is design for Dashcam/CCTV and similar device so why won't the warranty cover usage with Dashcam..?? 😅
*
all endurance sdcards warranty covers dashcam/cctv usage.
its the non endurance ones that will not cover dashcam/cctv usage.

this is serious /k, not kopitiam.

TS has made an error in mixing up read and write, does not mean we have to insult/demean him.

if it was in /k then...... whistling.gif

Actually, what's the difference between white vs grey?
Ok. Will definitely go for Endurance then!
*
on paper there is not much difference but the white comes with 7 years warranty vs red 10 years warranty.
