Hi,
Is it true to get a (at least) 100Mbps of Read Speed SD card for better performance on DashCam? To avoid choppy recording.

Any recommendations?

Get DDPAI with built-in memory best.

Else get genuine Lexar, Sandisk, Kioxia (formerly Toshiba) are all fine.

The cards are all Class 10 now, means minimum write speed 10MB/s.

not only you need high read speed but high reliability also.

budget is samsung evo plus 128gb.

recommended are samsung pro endurance or sandisk high endurance series or any "endurance" 128gb cards.

get 128gb capacity or at least 64gb.
32gb or lower the cards will die faster.

I was using Sandisk in Blackvue DR400 - the ancestor of all Blackvue dash cams. It kept rebooting after a while. Replaced new Sandisk card and it would behave well only for a short while. I thought it was due to ageing dashcam, because it was doing well when new (but using other brand of sd card).

Replaced dash cam, used back same card and baru realised card was faulty.

all will be class 10 nowadays.
but for dashcam its recommeded to the the UHS class speed 3 aka U3/V30 class especially if your recording 4k.

minimum sequential writing speed of U3 30mbps vs class10(U1) 10mbps.

nowadays they have cards specifically for dash cams with high endurance.
these cards have higher write / rewrite times and higher tolerance to temperature for reliability.

but tat being said, it still comes down to luck as no manufacturing is 100% perfect.

Yeah but Sandisk from that era was performing significantly worse than Samsung from that era.

If I am going to replace my SD card, I won't consider Sandisk unless it's priced significantly lower.

That was my experience last time, before current super duper SD cards were available. During that time, there were also Class 4 cards.
