I have been through that. Suicidal intention, extreme sadness, crying for no reason, leaning on a balcony, you name it, that was when i was much younger.
I sought help from counsellors.
Now thinking back, for a person to give up without seeking help first is just plain selfish.
Or even without trying to work through the problem, or even without attempting to brace through challenges.
School counsellors, friends, teachers, befrienders are there for you. One should take effort to speak to them.
That's the reason why I need to share this. From my experience, I have seen others out there who have suffered much more worst (those things that are truly beyond their control) than this 'academic pressure'. To chose suicide over academic pressure is just selfish.
Also, i have seen cases (on students) over the years who chose video games/entertainment over studies, then they complained they are depressed for not being able to score. In campus, you can see them not even attempting to help themselves.
Empathy? I have seen others who suffered worst and yet they brace through. Those kind of cases where if you listen to their entire story, tears can really drop from your own eyes because it's truly traumatic and beyond their control. And yet they brace through it.
Exactly
You have experienced hardship and managed to see through it
You have seen others hardship and see how they managed through it
You have experienced more
You have more points of data to compare to and conclude that this much of hardship is just at this level
But maybe not to this kid
Being young, he did not experience enough to know bigger hardship
To him, at that moment, he was at his lowest
That is over his perspective
Perspective is relative
If only he had a more sensitive parents
If only he had the help survivors like me and you had
