Hi all.
Not sure if this is the correct place for me to ask, if not kindly assist me where should i go for help. tq smile.gif

Few days back i switched my provider from Allo to Digi Fibre.

All is fine, unless my android box is unable to connect with wifi. My laptops, phones, tv can connect to this new wifi but not android box.

Im using T9.

I can see my network on the setting, but everytime i key in the pword, error msg pop saying couldnt find network.

Is there any setting of router? This new digi has no separate 2.4 and 5. it combines both.

My installer ask me to check with digi if they actually block android box, but nope. i already checked. I even tested my T9 to connect with my hotspot, and it can. So the box is fine. So it is like my box could not locate or detect/connect with the wifi.

I already checked youtube for answer but couldnt find one.

Anybody can assist me please? If i need to get new box, which box is ok with this new network?

Please help me. Thanks in advance guys.

go to setting & change the WiFi channel. mine is different case though. mi box s can't connect to Huawei modem 5ghz constantly. I search YouTube & someone show to change WiFi channel. After I change (just test one by one which WiFi channel is stable), now no more connection issue.

tq bro.
u mean, channel 2.4 and 5? unfortunately not available for this router. i asked my installer where is the 2.4 and 5, he said this one combine 2.4 and 5. im not sure what does it mean, but no option to separate both channel.

he even showed me the system for setup. the option to make 2.4 and 5 could not be clicked, which means it combines both channel. he told me this is new for digi.

No not that, that is 2.4GHz and 5GHz band. The channel is 1 to 13 for 2.4GHz and like 36 to 165 for 5GHz band.

No such thing as cant seperate it, either he dont understand your question or you didnt proper explain to him.

Do this for now, go to your router under wireless advance setting find the wifi security type. Got WPA or WPA2 and etc. Try changing that

Its set to "combined" because wireless n support is selected for both band 2.4ghz and 5ghz. Perhaps such transceiver shares resources. Some even shared password to work means your 2.4 and 5 must be of the same password.

Some device cannot detect 2.4ghz channel 12 and 13. Do not use auto channel select. Force the router to channel 11 on 2.4ghz band.

Certain country like US prohibits channel 12 and 13.

So some device set to US origin may ban this channels.. eg like windows.

Yes for this Zyxel router, you cannot seperate both 2.4 and 5GHZ.
I have another suggestion for you, which is to setup a guest Wifi SSID on the router and connect your Android box to it. Also you can try to change encryption to WPA2, because some devices do not support WPA3.
This router is a bit strange that I cannot update my iOS using the default Wifi, but when I setup guest wifi and connect to it, the update run smoothly.
As alternative, if you have your own router from previous ISP, you can also consider to use own router to replace the Zyxel router.

I think it is possible, just that technician will always install with the ISP router. If you want to use other router you have to DIY.
What model is the D-Link router that you have? As long as you can configure it with the right VLAN and PPPOE username and password, it can be use.

Yes you can. Option 1... Turn your second router as an access point (AP) or wifi extender.

OR Option 2. You can still have it operate as a router but with different subnet(With dhcp) than the main router. But this will isolate your 2nd router from main network. 2nd router will use lan connection on router 1 as internet gateway.

Not sure about DiGi. But ALL new Unifi routers Netis/Az-tech orange or white that i know only does channel 1 to channel 11 for 2.4ghz.

Latest device will not have problem with CH12 and CH13.. However older device will have problems.. they wont be able to see this wifi.

New gen router can combine 2.4 & 5ghz together. But there are unstable switching problems. I own a Mercusys MR70X that can do that and it is called "Smart connect". Click that and it merges 2.4 & 5ghz under 1 SSID.

I do believe that some routers given by ISP would have locked some features for some reason or another.

It is also true some phones, pc wifi or wifi devices cannot connect to certain routers because the technology/software design is either too new or too old.

Recently i came across my customer office that uses Maxis wireless broadband for the office via maxis provided router. After all their pc upgraded to Windows 10 certain websites cannot view. End up found the problem is with router firmware too outdated to support new internet protocols. And maxis had to change the router for them.

Actually I feel the opposite. First time I got a router for home use that was 5GHz capable, I was surprised that it cannot be combined...Since I was so used to Cisco enterprise grade WLC and AP at work where both can be combined in the same SSID. Easier for seamless roaming. If 5GHz is strong enough at your location, go ahead. If it is not because you are a bit far, then 2.4GHz is available with the same SSID and credentials, it is seamless to the user. Not to mention the load-balancing benefits of using multiple radios.

midieainny do you manage to solve the problem by enabling guest wifi and connect your T9 to it? Or have you tried replacing the default Zyxel router?

Small update. There is a new firmware for the Digi Zyxel router that can seperate 2.4ghz and 5ghz. I upgraded my Digi fibre plan and yesterday morning installer come to check my line and updated the router firmware. When I check after he left, the box to seperate 2.4ghz and 5ghz can be click, not greyed out like before.
If someone has the link or means to get the new firmware and share here, I think it would be useful to TS.

Solution 1:
Use Ethernet cable (LAN cable).

Solution 2:
Wifi Security change from WPS3 to WPS2.

I have tried guest wifi, not working. Changed channel, only available from 1-9, not working. WPA, not working. I even bought new android box. Still not working. I do not know how to go next.

I feel like want to change back to Allo or Unifi. But will need to pay penalty rm500. Erghhh....

Just buy a 2nd router just for the wifi, connect it to that digi router. Just disable the stupid digi router wifi.
