Getting Started

hi,
iDefrag allows me to use Online defrag which a Quick defrag algorithm. Is there anyway I could set iDefrag to use Compact or Full defragmentation? I know one way is to boot from another HDD or CD / DVD. How do I do that? Any tips?
Thanks

@sshark, It might be a stupid question but is it really still necessary to defrag our HDDs? I thought I read somewhere it's no longer necessary; or was it meant just for OS platforms? *shrugs*

@carpathia, I just lurve to hear the word DON'T need !! *grins* Saves trouble, saves time, saves effort *grins* And Yes, I thought I remembered reading about not needing to defrag somewhere too - it was probably mentioned in this forum too, once upon a time

No need , If you are using Journaled HFS+ , you dont need it. Trust me , iDefrag messes up the disk sometimes. Not advisable

Getting Started

A lot has been discussed here as to defrag or not. I choose to defrag and I choose not to start a debate here. Old habit of a PC / Windows guy I guess. Thanks pspfan for your info.
