Anyone owned it before?
I saw several places that could just swap the cells if the battery has an issues.

Some parts are interchangable with old vios as well. The price is quite cheap considering its a toyota as well. For around ~20k I think its a steal, would've boughted a ionic (not ionic 5) if I could though.

I understand its close to a 10 year old car, but my current one is approaching 35 this year, plus roadtax and general parts are getting harder to source, not to mention it chugs fuel.

The other one I saw cheap2 was a saga MY 2014 . Under 20k as well.

Go for it and make sure your had the hybrid battery checkout.
I think 7k-8k to replace it and refurbish can around 2k-3k (1 yr warranty only lar).

Understand Prius C still using NiMH battery and may not as lasting as Lithium battery in Honda.

Good luck.

Prius C :- rock solid engine if they keep up with maintenance and do the necessary flushing once you obtain. for batteries, 2 options; go refurbished/ 3rd party: they are not exactly that expensive but in terms of roi, should be able to recuperate after 5 years of ownership. other than that you are golden.

Saga 2014 (FLX) :- recommend getting the flx 1.6 if possible. do a bit of research on parts and maintenance. engine is solid for any mechanic to repair. telltale signs of replacement usually involve with IAFM modules and the bushing related suspensions.

both cars are good but if you wish to obtain either, please research first before taking that leap. no one knows better than your understanding towards the car and your pocket money

Saw some companies upgrading the Hybrid battery to Li-Ion based.
I had a 2000 camry before and had little to no issues with it, plus prius c is just the right size of car I need right now.

Is there a reason why on opting for the 1.6 vs 1.3? planning to get the smaller engine for fuel consumption. What about the models with CVT?
We have a Preve, but no issues with the CVT except with it's module that handles shfting location

I read too in some sifus post and bunch of youtubers going Li-Ion based. apparently do last super long but like scotty kilmer says keep it oem lol.gif

drove the 1.3 and 1.6... in terms of fuel for campro... not much of difference between the CCs and also depends on usage roughly 1-2km/l difference.... cvt2 are placed for both 1.3 and 1.6... 1.3 suitable for City driving and need casual driving.. but the 1.6 shines when you have long distance and hauling around families...

That's the issue for me, on weekdays I drive only 8km roundtrip to work.
But every 2 weeks I go back to my home state which is 800km roundtrip sweat.gif

then the hybrid sounds about right for you... try to open up to the honda insight / prius C for now... battery pack price varies for now.. but should be 4-5k in a 1 time replacement....

fyi honda insight uses most of the jazz petrol for the engine and cooling components... less worry for price... just note that u need to review the rocker arm gaps usually at 200k km if recalled right which can be done by a handful of mechanics...

Need to correct some of the misinformation here.

1) Prius C battery cost around 5.8k from Toyota. Outside, it is around 4.8k. This is for new battery. Outside workshop can also change only faulty cells at around 2k but that is not recommended as the other old cells will die anytime.

2) the new battery type is LiFePo4. You can refer to projectlithium.com. These are totally new battery tech that is better. Unfortunately, the price is slightly higher than ori NiMH Toyota.

Comparing Prius C to Saga FLX, it's like Apple and Android. Prius C is another class on it's own.

Price for Prius C is now very cheap..like 15-18k only.

Get one with the HV battery changed not long ago. Find out also what other parts has been changed before. Most notable, ABS Master Pump and Inverter. These are the most common failures on Prius and the price is expensive to repair.

For me, the car is awesome. Really find it to be good quality car. Also, for Prius C you don't really need to worry about your catalytic converter get stolen compared to the Prius 1.8. LOL....

I have not had the chance to ride Lexus ct200h. From what I gathered, Lexus is slightly more comfy. Not night and day difference. Internally, Prius is more spacious.

Yeah, do not trust used car dealers. A lot of cases happened where they put a black tape over the dash to hide the engine warning light. Few users kena already.

You can join facebook Prius club and find sellers there. I think got a few selling their cars.

I don't see many (read 'any') listing Prius C below RM20k recently, last year still have some below RM20k. Also Prius 1.8 is what I am looking for, 2nd hand car dealers selling around RM20k - mid 30s, but most Prius FB group listings are above RM30k... sigh....

One Prius 1.8 I test drove (RM19k asking price, direct from owner) have mechanical issues (front lower arm needs to be changed, engine sounds like diesel - mounting issues perhaps + something else?), weak hybrid battery, some nicks here and there - overall is great pricing for me but my regular mechanic (old skool guy) is totally against the idea and lacking someone who would handhold me in the acquisition and assessment process put me off from buying it. But it was really good experience since the owner was quite honest in sharing the issues with the car, but I needed expert assessment on that car as I am not that detailed and careful.

I have seen someone selling Prius C for 18k. Used car dealers also throwing price for Prius 1.8 at around 20k. That is really cheap. Personally, I prefer 1.8 as it is more powerful and spacious. But maintenance on it is also higher.

** Try not to buy from used car dealers unless it is someone/some company you trust.

I don't need a car that big anymore
Plus at the very least I could give the car to my little sister once my income allows it
