Lately I haven't been able to chat through my PS3 Headset(Official). Usually, I'll hear a very weird loud and annoying sound. If I were to describe it in words, the sound is something like "chhkkk chkkk chkkk chkkk.........chkkk chkkk chkkk chkkk".

It seems to happen no matter who it is I'm trying to talk to. Of the people I know personally, my uncle uses a non-official headset and we can't hear each other. My friend uses an official headset and we can't hear each other either. Anyone know what's the cause of this? It started about a week ago I think..

Oh I forgot to add, when I go to 'Audio Device Settings', my headset works fine. I can hear myself talking through it so I guess it's working. :s

tried unpairing and repairing?
tried using it with your phone?
*
Tried both, still not working with PS3.

Working with phone.

Update: I just noticed when I turned my headset off, that weird noise comes out from the TV speakers. This has led me to believe it's not a problem with my headset but something else. Others have also heard the noise for example my friend who's using the official headset. I've only been using the headset on FIFA the past week, could it possibly be a problem with the game??

Yeah I know what you mean. I havent used my official headset recently but when we were playing Fifa11 last friday night, I could only here the cchhk chhk cchhk sound you were describing from the opposing team(all three of them had headsets). Have you tried using it with a game other than Fifa 11?
*
Exactly, I've been getting this sound from everyone actually :/ Haven't tried with other games yet. I'll try with Modern Warfare but it isn't easy finding someone with a headset :/

i also encounter this when i dc my headset n connect back again..very noisy one..the only solution currently for me is to restart whole ps3  doh.gif

Have you only tried it with FIFA? Does it work then once you restart your PS3? D:

About to try a video chat with my uncle using the headset as sound input/output. I'll report back. I have a very strong feeling it's FIFA that's the problem vmad.gif

Just tested video chat with my uncle. It seems the headset is working A-OK. This must mean there's something up with FIFA and headsets.. STUPID EA vmad.gif mad.gif

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Apparently, it's a problem with FIFA. To get the headset to work, you have to turn it on BEFORE you start up FIFA, it'll work if you do this (:

Still a stupid problem though and should be fixed! vmad.gif

the thing is once i dc my headset n want to reconnect it back..i will get the noise..
*
Exactly, that's the problem. The headset has to be turned on before the game is started or it won't work. You dc-ed it while the game was turned on and then reconnected it while the game was on hence the problem.

2J .. is it a good choice to buy 3rd party headset instead of official sony? . .or use sony official ps3 is better? .. biggrin.gif .
*
It depends on personal preference really. My uncle just bought a third party Giotech headset today. I believe sound quality is rougly the same. You do get few more features with the official headset though. On the other hand, the third party is cheaper. My uncle got it for RM115 together with 'Real Triggers' and a HDMI cable. The official I got for RM145. I prefer the official because I feel it blends it better with the PS3 since it has the same external colour and finish. All down to personal preference wink.gif

Yeap, this says it all (:

I especially like the on-screen indicator. Much easier to see the charge level, volume or if it's muted. I also find the official headset pretty comfortable.
