Been entertaining thoughts of starting a vacuum tube manufacturing plant like since 2019 when Shuguang factory in China was destroyed by fire and no production since. EHX have just declared that there is no more vacuum tubes for the foreseeable futures, so JJ tubes from Slovakia is the only choice left if you want EL34, 6L6.
Now Western Electric is reissuing 300B for 1500 USD for a piece of glass that heats up and burn, I say why not start a business that have great demand from audio and guitar amplification which have very few competitors?

Setup brains in Shenzhen, capital from Shanghai, manufacture in rural china. Possible.

There is still Matsushita people if they don't die of old age already, investigating on that. Fuck EHX, if we have the gold everyone is begging for it even without the name.

No more, Shuguang burned down in 2019 and they are not starting since government ordered for semiconductor shortage; I've done the check. Fullmusic only made 12AX7, 300B and KT88 in China. So only JJ left

But with J old school recipe and QC could be your ticket to heaven in 5 years. I think moving to brick and mortar is a good choice in this environment... Operator gonna kill everyone... Including shorts.

Plenty of existing demand, hell Marshall, Mesa Boogie, Fender going to headache if their supplies stop now, not to mention the HIFI world.

Hifi world people is like more difficult to deal with. I imagine by direct supply to manufacturers and slowly win them over instead of having people compare your new stuff to Western Electrics, Phillips Mullard and picking faults.

QUOTE(Fenix98 @ Mar 15 2022, 06:53 AM) I know PSVane, but never seen their EL34 and EL84 in person, looking at their price it can still be made to work. So only 2 companies I am aware of still exist to make these tubes.

The challenge here is technical knowhow. Maybe can use new technology to manufacture it. Can start with low volume & high end then slowly move to high volume.

QUOTE(Quantum Geist @ Mar 15 2022, 08:50 AM) just the glass? or the parts like the transistor tubes and nixie tubes? The whole thing, but then again the glass part isn't that important, can sub to glass makers and focus on the more difficult vacuum and conducting parts.

Ancient tech. Very niche industry. As you say only use for audio amplification who wants a certain sound.
Solid state all the way.
