They wanted to take away my unifi provided dlink-dir842 router because it is "OWNED" by TM. I said no, it is under my ownership after two years of the contract.
I asked what law is that you need to take away my router? I will try to ask TM HQ.

last time the technician/contractor told me that those equipments (BTU + router, and boxes as well) must be returned upon termination or charges will apply
not sure where u get the idea that u 'own' the equipment after the contract ended
but para 3 and 17 of the terms and conditions stated pretty clearly otherwise

Modem can be exchange anytime because it belongs to TM. For router, just take whatever they give during installation and buy your own from outside.
They provide either Huawei or Kaon router. Modem will use back your existing one from TM. If your intention to switch is just to get a Wifi 6 router, I can say forget about it. Go get a Wifi 6 router like the TP-Link AX20, around RM2xx.

I think on 2nd week I will decide either still want continue to use Unifi 100M or just jump ship to maxis 300M. Really cant imagine how suck AZ tech device.

Probably just scare tactics about no spare parts on their copper cabinet therefore scheduled for decommissioning soon.
It's not a scare tactic
TM is really going to stop using copper infra

I did not terminate my unifi. I just renewed.
I think "must be returned upon termination or charges will apply" for those still under contract and wanted to terminate their unifi account.

The idea was long ago. You can google for it. I do keep several old routers provided by TM during the Streamyx era. Previously, the technician doesn't even bother to collect it back.
They said you could keep the tm router. Some technicians want it. They want to sell it somewhere else (carosell etc.) for personal benefits because people don't understand they can keep it.
Why not keep it as a backup once the existing router is not working?

Yes, I did ask the unifi cs, and the answer is yes. The wireless router belongs to the customer once the contract is over but NOT the modem.

From my understanding. If under contract, yes. The wireless router still belongs to tm under "leasing".

it doesnt matter which isp, all isp will give very cheap OR very locked down router (RG/home gateway) because

1. to cut cost
2. for maximum control and easier for tech support to control remotely

the best is to buy third party router no matter which isp you are going. the rest of experience depends on what website you/your family visit often. Unifi recently has bad routing cause slow loading/high latency/high packet loss to some international sites/online game servers in which other ISP can give you better experience in such usage case

no choice lo. because it's what you cannot control because is given randomly. you can switch to other ISP which give wifi 6 router or try luck ask unifi tech/installer to exchange to another one.

spend one time for better experience is worth because its yours to do whatever you want

I can feel that AZ tech is really rubbish product. Heavily cut cost junk. ZTE is for modem, so it can be exchange if request ? AZ tech if request exchange can ? The new package currently install in my other house, still under try period 30 days.
*
The wireless range is pretty poor but if you can get a free 2nd unit, maybe can try if the mesh works. I'm surprised to find MESH mode setting in the router config page.

I saw AZ tech seem got limited mesh setting. I got other routers to set as AP. But no choice since now I am new user apply, should I get the junk device just like that and sign for 2 years contract? I don think so.

If I were migrating Streamyx to Unifi Fiber, means the old Streamyx modem is to keep right? Not taken away. And how many power sockets needed for the Fiber installation? One for OTU, one for router? How about the phone?

Spend for long term use. The router is not just for 2 years, but many years to come even if you switch to other provider next time. Not necessary you spend on RM1000 router, even those around RM300 also have Wifi 6.

The old modem you can keep. Need only 2 power sockets for modem and router. For phone you can reuse back old telephone, just connect it to the modem RJ-11 port.
Make sure technician check everything, including landline is working after installation.

I am thinking to change ISP after 2 years contract for better value package. So if every 2 years the new device bundle with package can fulfill my requirement then no need to spend more. Especially this kind of product is tech product, mean there is no value at all in the future.

Hi, how do I terminate TM Landline. I contacted CS, they said need to wait 30 days & pay outstanding bill.

Is there any faster way ?

If I just don't pay bill & get auto-terminated, can I subscribe to Unifi in the future or will I be Blacklisted ?

Before calling technician over to your house, here few things u can try to isolate the issue:

1. Connect only 1 phone to Wifi. Other clients disconnect from router/wifi.
2. If using Android 9+, go to Settings and look for Private DNS. Set it to one.one.one.one or dns.quad9.net and save.
3. Open browser and go to https://ipleak.net/ to check DNS Addresses is not using ISP's DNS servers.
4. Run speedtest few times to confirm speeds.

Similarly, you can do these test with only 1 PC/laptop connected to the router to confirm your suspicion.

If you are satisfied, connect back 1 device at a time to router until you notice the problem happening again.(Buffering, slow)

The test should be done with and without IPv6 enabled in router. Good luck.

i already did a and b use google dns ..still encounter buffering ..lagging at night time

which dns server to try ?

thanks..

Common one's are 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8 and 9.9.9.9. Then go to ipleak.net to check DNS Addresses not using ISP's DNS.

Go to Tmpoint and terminate on the spot. If you don't pay bill definitely you will be blacklisted.
