hi to all the mac sifus out there and anyone with the same problem.

my ibook G4 's dvd drive doesnt work anymore. it just spits out any dvd that i put in. funny thing is that it plays CD and VCD with no problem. is this software problem or hardware??

i asked the mac shop in amcorp and they said its a ROM problem, without even testing it! would cost me 800plus to replace with third party drive.

is there another cheaper way to solve the problem?

thanks for any help

er... you tried with the original DVDs? if you like... i can do some additional testing... no charge.

best results, get an Apple certified technician to check it out.

ROM problem sounds like a bogus answer, ROMs don't just go bad.
