Hi, would like to get advice in terms of wood.

Im looking to get a solid wood office table.
There's 3 options Suar, Rubberwood, and Meranti.

Suar looks the best and should be the most durable ( correct me if im wrong), but the price is on the high side.
Thus Im looking at Meranti, or even rubberwood which both are half the price of Suar.

But I'm concern on the reliability of both.
Initially wanna get the meranti as they do provide in one piece.

Would like to get advice, whether Meranti is ok, or should go for Suar, or consider rubberwood.

Thanks in advance.

If want to buy solid wood, dont compare price ... sure have budget. Closed eyes for 1 time purchase. Buy the best.

suar or raintree is popular due to slab tables, as commercial timber planks, i think not much value and no supply also, i usually cut up my slabs and make some items for fun since i cant sell them as timber, unless make into some table thing.

, rubber wood is low end price usually made into FJB (fingerjoint board) , meranti specis got wide range, from low end junk to higher end like white meranti and DRM (dark red meranti)

i would say reliability of local woods, i prefer to make furniture out of nyatoh and semangkok (mid price) or merbau/cengal (high price)

Can try to find glue jointed hardwood +/- epoxy and plywood backing to make it look like an expensive thick slab. Need a good carpenter.

Rubber wood is decent without breaking the bank. Look for wood with higher janka score, it measures the wood hardness which translate to better durability. Can try look for acacia species too
