Hey guys, I'm looking for the best wet grip tyres for my Saga FLX. 185/60R14 tyres. Don't care about road noise, don't care about tyre wear. If it grips well in the wet, better than the rest, then it's a winner for me. My Viking City Tech Tyres are shitty with wet roads. The road is just wet without any stagnant water and it still skids when braking. Tested it at an empty Giant Hypermarket open air carpark. Kinda shocking to see how poor it performs.

Try Hankook Kinergy Eco2 (K435). Better traction dry and wet than Toyo NE03 and XM2 v1. Since Yoko ES32 seems to be lower range than C.drive2, maybe I can postulate K435 is better than ES32 too.
The only problem is joe public got biasness in terms of accepting korean tyre brand. If you can get past that hurdle, you can try 1 of the better and safer tyre choice in this limited 14in market.

A bit difficult to find a decent grippy tyre for that size. You can try Dunlop SP Sport J6, & see if it is to your liking. It is definitely better than your current ones.

Yeah. 185/60R14 have a very limited amount of tyres to choose from. Thought of upgrading to 195/50R15, but sidewall too thin. Know few friends bend their rims when entering a pothole. Not sure if Saga FLX can fit a 195/55R15 setup or not.

I am on Viking CT6 175/65/14 on Myvi. It is a marked improvement over the old silverstone that i use to like. Noise levels are lower. The sound when you drive over puddles of water are also different. Steering does not pull much like silverstone.
I also use 185/60/14 tires on my RWD corolla. They are still the old cheap silverstones.
My preposition to you is, reduce your tire air pressure to increase the tire contact patch a little more. A lot of people like to over inflate.
If you pump 230-240, try 225 or go back to 220.

I have used xm2 and now Toyo Cr1 in that size. I find the XM2 to have the better wet grip but the CR1 to be much quieter.

This is the standard size for Saga FLX 1.6 SE.

I went to the tyre shop nearby my place and straight recommended me XM2 at RM210 per tyre. I asked about the other tyres and his reply was
"Lets stick to something that was proven for a long time instead of go trying new things." I've replaced both rear wheels and the ride is really worlds different. This is the first time I've used XM2 on my Saga FLX.
Chronologically the tyres used in my car are as follow 1) Silverstone Synergy M3 (shitty tyres, nuff said) 2) Goodyear Duraplus (it was ok but the thread doesn't look like it's going to grip when it goes down to 50% wear) 3) Dunlop SP Sport J5 (Great tyres for the price point, but i find it tend to go uneven when threadwear goes to below 40%) 4) Viking City Tech 6 (It was good when it was new. After 40,000 km or 1 year of use, man the wet grip really suck)
Can't wait to see how the XM2 holds up. Tyreman told me XM2+ out of stock and only XM2 available. Probably telling me this to get rid of his old XM2 stock but tyre date is 0222 so not that old tho

BTW, the latest best 2022 wet braking tire now is Bridgestone Turanza T005, Ventus Prime 4 & follow by Falken ZE310 at top 3... Michelin even with higher level Primacy 4 also loss to Maxxis HP5... https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2022-Su...et-Overview.htmFor your 185/60/R14 tires, mostly Falken ZE310 got stock ready in Malaysia. Even no, another model from Falken SN832 also score very good during 2018 year test. https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2018-AD...-175-65-R14.htmThis post has been edited by littlefire: Mar 10 2022, 11:49 AM

Shifting my plan from trying out Toyo Cr1 to something else due to review soso and no good on wet. Current shortlist for my sis Myvi 175/65R14 are: 1) Yoko ES32 2) Dunlop J6 3) just added to list - Falken SN832i Currently using XM2+ On another Myvi and it’s very good. Want to try out other models to experience different tyres as a comparison. Recently surprised by positive experience trying out an unknown China brand tyre (Windforce Catchfors UHP 235/55R19) recommended by reputable LYN bros here.

If you really dig into falken tires you will be amaze how much the value : performance ratio it gives. https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Falken/Especially Falken FK510 is one of the top performing/value UHP tire in similar category. Now going to replace with FK520 in this year.

QUOTE(ry8128 @ Feb 24 2024, 06:04 PM) Hi, it should be >2 years already right you used this tyre? How is it? Any feedback or comments? Just changed to another new set of same Viking again. The old one botak already. Overall really the quietest among the cheap tires. Very good improvement overall compared to silverstone. Thats why go back to it again. Used for 3 years and about 65000 km. Previouly only cost RM103. The latest price is RM142.
