I applied for PB Visa Electron card to verify my Paypal. I am a bit confused about the naming convention.

The name on my Visa card is YONG AH KOW (example).

So, when:-
(i) creating a new Paypal account, and
(ii) adding a credit card to it

Paypal will require us to enter First Name and Last Name. Should I put:-

Last Name = YONG
First Name = AH KOW
(then Paypal will display it as AH KOW YONG)

OR

Last Name = AH KOW
First Name = YONG
(then Paypal will display it as YONG AH KOW)

I want to make sure I put the right one, scared Paypal may ban my card if the names doesn't match.

Because here it usually write down the last name first. For example the name is Solid Snake. Solid is the first name while Snake is the last name. It will appear like :

Snake, Solid which indicates Snake as the last name.

I am quite confused with chinese name/naming so which ever is ur last name goes for last name. Just don't worry much about how they wrote it down.

Last Name = YONG
First Name = AH KOW

works for me.

Anyway, I don't think it's that important as long as you can verify the credit card. Because the verification is by the 4 digits thingie and not your name.

Last name is technically your family name, in this case, Yong. First name is your given name, in this case, Ah Kow. It works for Paypal, at least for me and abubin.

As for Malay names, I'm not too sure... I guess that if a guy is named Ali bin Ahmad it would be last name bin Ahmad, first name Ali.

PayPal will charge you US$2 or there about to your credit card. The money will later credited in your PayPal account. You can use the money to pay others. So, it is not really a fee, but just a verification process. smile.gif
