The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru building was originally constructed in 1997 and later redeveloped into a 4-star hotel in accordance with Hilton Worldwide's Design and Construction Standards.


It opened in July 2014.


The updated hotel in southern Malaysia occupies a total gross floor area of close to 40,000 square meters.

The retrofit of the original building required the T.Y. Lin International (TYLI) team to review and repair existing mechanical and electrical equipment, and to identify, assess, and recommend a range of alternative energy-efficient solutions best-suited to meet the needs of the existing structure.


In addition to operating under significant structural and space constraints, the TYLI team also had to manage construction activities while the building remained in operation.


DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru offers 335 guest rooms, including 52 suites.


Each room and suite comes equipped with wireless internet access, the signature Sweet Dreams™ by DoubleTree bedding,

345-room Sheraton Johor Bahru


, marking the 2nd property the global hotel chain have with the Malaysia-based multidisciplinary organisation following the launch of Four Points by Sheraton Desaru in 2021.

Expected to open in 2025, Sheraton Johor Bahru will be part of a mixed-use development comprising a retail podium and

office spaces along Jalan Storey.


The hotel will have direct access to Tebrau Highway that links to various parts of the state and beyond.

A HOTEL popular with politicians and royalty has been thrust into the spotlight by the sex scandal involving Malaysia's former health minister.





The four-star Hotel Katerina in quiet Batu Pahat is widely believed to be the place where Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek [ become tan sri on 2014 june ] engaged in an extra-marital affair with an unidentified young woman.

Their sexual escapades were filmed in secret, then distributed on DVD in a plot that Dr Chua hinted was hatched within his own political party, the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA).

has all the appearances of an upmarket hotel. Its 188 rooms include 28 suites, with prices listed on its website ranging from RM160 (S$70) to RM800 per night.

Adding to the conspiracy theory is that unlike other rooms, security in the suite where the tryst allegedly took place was tight, according to other local papers.

In fact, guests from other floors have no access to that floor.
