QUOTE(wolf1991 @ May 26 2023, 10:45 AM) Don't buy, xiaomi 12 not worth anymore. 8 gen 1 chip are not good at all. I read that the latest firmware fixed the overheating issues. If thr price has gone down significantly is it still better than a poco F5 for example it's camera?

QUOTE(wolf1991 @ Jun 22 2023, 08:06 PM) I have no ideas whether firmware update fixed the issue or not. As per my understanding, it's the hardware problem of the chipset. Most so called fix is using a software mean to limit the performance of soc to reduce the heat generated. If one don't mind on the reduced performance and happy with the price then can just go ahead. I don't think the price have gone down much unless you are mentioning about second hand set. With current pricing of 8 gen 1, I suggest better get the 1 with soc 8+ gen 1 and above. If prioritize on taking photo, then soc doesn't really matter. Yes used set near new condition is around RM1. 3k. Based on user feedback they no longer have overheating issues with the rom update. Likely the performance has been throttled to prevent this. This post has been edited by DannyOP: Jun 23 2023, 04:55 PM

Just got a Xiaomi 12 Pro to replace Poco F5/Redmi 12 Turbo. My 2 cents :
1. You have to use Global ROM then your heating issue is fixed. If you use China or EU ROM, battery drain very fast.
2. This is much better phone than Poco F5 except for CPU and battery but it's still enough to last a day just not as efficient. Camera, build quality, screen is flagship level.
3. Curved screen may get some time to get used to. Find a good screen protector and case to protect it.
Conclusion : if you're a pure gamer and don't care about camera, screen quality etc then Poco F5 can be considered. If you're a general user you will appreciate the quality of a flagship phone from 12/12 Pro. 12 Pro is Xiaomi's top model released globally for 2022 (12s Pro and 12s Ultra only for China market).

QUOTE(pigduck @ Jul 24 2023, 09:44 PM) Me too. Deciding between Xiaomi 12 Pro and Poco f5 Pro. I don't play games so really not a big deal but I do open a lot of tabs and I use dual apps quite a lot and the problem with my Redmi Note 8 Pro on Android 11 is that I can't open websites from my dual app. Some thoughts 1. Xiaomi 12 Pro has triple 50MP cameras 2. Poco F5 Pro has 8 Gen Plus 1 processor 3. Poco F5 Pro has more space 4. Xiaomi 12 Pro has 120w charger so bad battery doesn't matter so much Another advantage of Mi 12 Pro, it has LTPO screen which is higher quality than Poco. If you use the latest Global ROM for 12 Pro you will get approx 6hr+ SOT. Since you don't play games often the 12 Pro will be a much better choice. After all it is the top flagship model globally for Xiaomi last year (12s Pro and 12s Ultra wasn't released globally). This post has been edited by DannyOP: Jul 31 2023, 12:00 PM

QUOTE(Elvin7 @ Jul 25 2023, 02:55 PM) I just bought Mi12 pro 4 days ago. So far so good, updated to MIUI 14 released in April 23 solved the heating issue. I not really gaming, just some COC and normal usage like FB, YT, messaging.... Full charge morning 7am can last till 10pm with about 20% battery remaining. Battery life just average compare to my previous Mi10t pro but Mi10t pro is 5000mah battery. My suggestion is if you gaming then go for Poco F5, if prefer photo quality and normal usage then MI12 should be the right choice with the current promotion price tag of 1599 and 2299. I can get Mi13 pro base model for 2.4k now, quite tempting but I need to sell the 12 pro first.
