Honestly, i also want to know why so much hate on MIUI?

Here's what I think why people disliked it:
1. Pre-installed app such as FB, Linkedin, Booking and some chinese apps. But it is easy to uninstall it, just 2 clicks away.
2. Advertising. Just need to go to each individual components and turn off recommendations. If i recall correctly, 5 or 6 places.
3. Wallpaper carousel. If you use this, probably you will get in-app advertisement. Just don't use this feature, easy.
4. Bloatware. TBH, i think Samsung's bloatware is even worse. Also MIUI is using Google stock dialer and messaging app.
5. Home launcher. It is known that MIUI did not encourage you to use other launcher, it let me use Nova launcher but navigation gesture won't work (there is a workaround for this). But personally, I'm quite comfortable with MIUI stock launcher, especially when you use app drawer mode, the search field is located conveniently at the bottom, near to your thumb. For other stock launcher, their search field mostly located at the top screen, which is very inconvenient especially when working with single hand and your thumb can't reach that search field on top.

Full disclosure, I'm currently using Mi10T so my opinion could be biased. But i also have tried S20 FE with OneUI 4, and Motorola Edge 30 Pro (and non-pro version) with their close to vanilla android UI, but in the end I'm back to this old phone.

Actually the main hate on Miui is mostly because of buggy UI and every time update can introduce new bugs or make bugs worse. People actually can handle the bloatware or ads if tech savvy/power users, but for bugs can be quite unbearable. Some of these include app being killed in background, delay in key notification of messages (may be linked to work for some), quirks in certain functions etc.

Xiaomi 12s ultra can only be imported for the meantime (or at least for several months or even whole product life cycle). China miui may has quirks that possible annoyance for some users.

Vivo X80 pro, although still on samsung version of snapdragon 8, at least can be obtained locally with local warranty and global version of UI, for more peace of mind

For Chinese speakers to view, because you can only import anyway. 8+ significantly improve battery life and sustained perf as expected

MrWhoseTheBoss really praised the camera of the 12S Ultra, beating even the S22 Ultra.

Let us hope Xiaomi Malaysia brings it in since we have quite a big following of Xiaomi fans here.

Any reviews for the Xiaomi 12S (not Pro or Ultra) available online?

Interested to see if there's a significant jump on the battery life compared to the previous SD 8 Gen 1 chipset since the 8+ seems to improve on efficiency.

Looks like the 12s series won't be coming to Malaysia. Will the China 12s ultra 5g work in Malaysia?

What kind of data?

During new phone setup you may have an option to copy apps, sms, call history, photos/videos, audio files. You just need to connect cable between 2 phones or they will discover each other as long as connected to the same network.

Or use Google drive backup for photos, Whatsapp chat, files etc
