Hi all,

Would like to know if anyone encounter water leaking from electrical socket in an apartment?
The wiring has plastic/pvc casing but it has been dripping water from it (the wall area above is dry though).
I am wondering where does the water comes from.

The electrical socket is for the toilet switches , so the unit above is also toilet.

this is developer construction worker when building time, did not lay the pipes according to specifications.
find the electrician or plumber to test and see where is the piping.
my guess is the piping is just behind the socket or very nearby.

it happen to new apartment. we saw it with our very own eye.
water splashing out from power socket. 1 of the unit newly VP.
and many of the units piping all badly laid. either leaking or water trapped cannot flow.
mainly due to lousy supervision from engineers during construction.

your problem likely is from the start but havent burst so you dont notice yet.

Thanks for your input. If thats the case means the contractor need to hack the wall to inspect?

Water will follow the conduit if there is one, otherwise is through the gaps in the brick wall.

Do it asap otherwise you will encounter power tripping.

The rooms adjacent to the toilet, did you run the air conditioning at long duration with very low temperature setting < 18 Degree C?

There is another possibility - the condensation happened inside the pvc conduit of this circuit. Check if this condition is present = air conditioning set low temperature + source of fresh air to the electrical conduit opening.

Then you can rule out this possibility.

Looks like is going to be a messy job, be prepared for it cos lots of hacking involved to identify the leakage, and then only rectification work.

I would assume all your wall sockets are not laid into pvc conduits.

I had the same issue at my mcb area because of the neighbour bathroom.

Neighbour rectified the leaking pipe and issue resolved.

cause you already got leaking.
they need to find the source of the leak and plug it.
yes they need to hack.

also dont be surprise that behind the socket or above the socket got water piping flowing.
under the law and architect specification or whatever, they should not be a pipe to near to socket.
so, in this case i am not sure if you can claim the developer.
cause confirm is developer + architect problem.

Currently they are still trying to find out the location of the leak. The JMB team couldn't pin point it.

I am suspecting the waterproof of the toilet above has defect and it causes the water to leak into the crack near the pvc conduit. Problem is there is no way to confirm.

Check all piping elbows joint in the wall. It can leak internally at the joint areas. The area around it should be dry. If is wet, then leaking. This is the 1st cheaper way to find the leak.
