PETALING JAYA: Mandatory quarantine for the close contacts of Covid-19 cases will no longer be necessary from Friday (April 22).

In a Twitter post on Thursday (April 21), the Health Ministry announced the new procedures would no longer distinguish between vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.

It explained that close contacts with Covid-19 symptoms were encouraged to quarantine and perform a Rapid Test Kit-Antigen (RTK-Ag) self-test from the time they developed symptoms.

Khairy Jamaluddin says close contacts don’t need to be isolated if they don’t have any symptoms, regardless of their vaccination status.

Close Contact

You are a close contact if you had a direct contact with a COVID-19 positive case, either face-to-face more than 15 minutes with a less than 1 meter distance and without wearing a mask or you had a physical contact.

If you are asymptomatic, you are not required to perform a COVID-19 RTK(Ag) self-test to be released from quarantine at the end of your quarantine.

The quarantine period remains the same even though you have developed symptoms during quarantine with condition that your COVID-19 RTK(Ag) self-test is negative at the end of quarantine.

Monitor your health during quarantine and report your symptoms during via the Health Assesstment Tool (HAT) on MySejahtera. If symptomatic, perform a COVID-19 RTK(Ag) self-test.

If positive, refer to the COVID-19 case management protocol.

Fully vaccinated close contacts are exempted from quarantine if infection was within 60 days of contact with a COVID-19 positive case.

(Vaccination Status) - (Quarantine Period) - (Tests Required) - (Release From Quarantine)

Boosted (asymptomatic): no quarantine required, RTK(Ag) self-test on Day-1 and Day-3.

Boosted (symptomatic): 5 days quarantine, RTK(Ag) self-test, release on Day-5.

Fully Vaccinated: 5 days quarantine, RTK(Ag) self-test if symptomatic, release on Day-5.

Partially/Not Vaccinated: 7 days quarantine, RTK(Ag) self-test if symptomatic, release on Day-7.

(Effective from 1 March 2022)

KUALA LUMPUR: All employers or related parties have been urged to accept a copy of the digital certificate for the Home Surveillance Order (HSO) and Release Order (RO) after the patient isolation period ends to avoid congestion at Covid-19 Assessment Centres (CACs).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, in a statement Friday (Feb 25), said based on data at the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), a total of 90% of those attending the CACs were for the purpose of discharge from HSO where there were patients or employers requesting to get a written notice.

Casual contact is not that important... it is an additional category to make MySj relevant.

You don't have to answer the questionaire everyday and you can do it one shot 4-5 days later.

There is no compulsory home quarantine in "casual contact", unlike "close contact" or "positive case".

Read post #3... about digital Home Surveillance Order and Release Order.

If you go for a pre-travel PCR test does your MySJ status automatically change to ‘Person Under Surveillance’ ?

In which case you can’t do any pre travel activities or preparations as you are not allowed to go anywhere like shops or malls !
