Does anyone know of a company that can replace the rubber seals at my uPVC windows (between glass and frame)? Original supplier no longer in business, so far other companies dont want to do. Should be an easy job actually, just have to find the right seal & company. icon_question.gif

I would have thought so. So far none of the shops was willing to even see what I need since I didnt buy the windows from them. Gonna remove the stip myself and order it online. Never seen such service. Usual advice if the strips needs replacement what you really need is new windows. They must think ppl are stupid.

I believed is price matters ....unless customer agreed to pay without question. If he charged 100 or 200, customers may think he is crazy for such small job.

Repair work is about time cost and not so much on material. If he can earn more with the same working hours I dont think he wants to work on small job.

Best is learn to diy on small repair work.

if you know where to buy let me know. I dont have a problem to do it. and mind you its nots a small job - i would assume its about 120 m++ running of inside outside lining for the glass and another 120m running for the dust and weather seal.

problem is that so far all the suppliers refused to even do it all. common response is if the seal is broken you must change the windows. what kind of b/s is this? windows last 50 yrs, its common that you replace the seals after 10-15 yrs.

i am keeping note of all the companies that refuse to make sure i wont use them to replace my windows when the time comes. and for what its worth I really could not care less about paying decently for it.

it's an eye-opener really.

Thanks for looking but you misunderstood the info provided. Of course you can change the rubber lips for the windows. Just like the dust seal and the weather strip those are clipped and can be changed. Lifespan for a window is 25-40 years (depending on wether you choose uPCV or Alluminium and the quality of your frame). The strips last 10-15 years and are replaced when needed.

What you CANNOT replace is the seal for IGU glass. That has nothing to to with the sealing strip you have holding the glass in place.

Think about how they install the window: They bring the frame, fix the frame to your wall and then install the glass, apply the strips and close the frame (if fixed glazing).

See the example for the weather strip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2oL9KO77nQ
