You can pay a runner to secure available numbers eg some special numbers from previous months

Otherwise, delay registration of your car by a few weeks to get the alphabets that you prefer

Also, you can choose any other state that you want eg Johor, Perak etc from any JPJ branch

Currently yes, you can get a number from any state. Also are you buying your car in Selangor?

no more. i bought my car from dealer in selangor and my plate is from perlis.

If you have Mysikap, you can buy the current running number from other state.

I actually paid RM210 for a Sabah plate SU***E but decided not to use it, just in case kena mistaken for Sinkie car

And numbers from East Msia are easier to buy (as in lower demand for good numbers) compared to peninsula.

Not sure about now, but I paid RM210 to choose a remaining running series number way back in 2018.

Let's say you chose a number then successfully made the payment and received payment receipt. Then what? How long do one needs to wait to get confirmation that we successfully got the number?

After payment is successful, you are the rightful owner of that number. Just print the receipt from JPJ via MySikap and hand it to your car dealer.

Need to transfer the old/existing number on your car to the new motorcycle, and only then you can register newly bought number on your old/existing car.

As buying a new motorcycle that serves no purpose other than interchanging number plates, hence there are motorcycle shops that offer this kind of service. Their charge is definitely cheaper than you buying a motorcycle and the hassle of selling the bike later on. Do contact those bigger motorcycle shop near your area to find out the process and charges...

Will purchasing a car plate from other states affect the car owner in any way? Like, have to pay higher road tax, or insurance? Or I am just thinking too much？

In the past, vehicles with East Malaysia plates will have lower 2nd hand value.

Now w JPJebid system, there is no longer any difference as we can get numbers from any state

of course, its running numbers. you have to be quick and look for your numbers early on once they are release. small numbers like 1 & 2 digit normally all taken up during biding. 3 digits left only. You can also select other states if you dont mind.
