Yes I think I got the old card, a bit stupid since the NRIC I replaced has 2028 expiry as well. So imagine my surprise my "new" NRIC expiry date is 2025. I guess can only use for 3 years and need to apply for refund in 2025 then. I have tied the card to my eWallet, so I might just try to use it at open toll.

Like if use the card on paydirect does it consider as using the card, so remain active.

No it wasn't dormant, the card was used few times a week.

I even just topped up. When the card reader displayed card expired, there're still RM300+ balance in it.

You can still top up expired or dormant card.

Since u brought this up, yeah if u brought a dormant card to a TnG counter, like the one next to Sg Besi or Duta Tol. They'll tell u the card is dormant & won't perform topup.

But if u brought the card to merchants using EPAY terminals, like Jaya Grocer, yes it could still be topup.

Renewal of nric is not dependant on t&g lah. Even if you renew your ic, t&g transfer is not automatic. What I did for my case was to top up my nric to get the serial ID then I go online to register (Google it). Then request for refund, the refund will come relatively quick and process is easy (for my case). I went then to renew ic, not because of t&g but more for change of address.

regardless TnG is expired or not, gomen should make it mandatory that all NRIC itself comes with expiry. not accepted anywhere, have to renew. IC gambar budak jambu 12 tahun baru baligh, tapi empunya badan tak pernah tukar IC sampai dah usia 54 tahun, sendiri tunggu nak expire.
