If referee decides that external conditions (Press, Team Leader, Player, Spectator, etc) give unfair advantage to a player,
the player may be given a warning or lose by default at the referee's sole discretion.

What kind a "external conditions" ..  unsure.gif
I cannot elbow players is it ?
*
I think the rule means external conditions such as people kacau-ing the gamers during play...by means of shouting...good rule there! nod.gif

Luige i wanna ask a few questions here...so basically the rule is cannot send a long ball from own half to the opponent's half right?

1. What if the ball was cleared from my own penalty box and it drops back into my own half? The game will continue fairly and there's no need to kick the ball out of play?

2. How about if the ball was cleared high up to the opponent's half, but then the opponent wins the ball. We can continue the game fairly without kicking the ball out of play?

Just want to let you know also that sometimes AI will auto-clear the ball for you when it's under a dangerous situation inside your own penalty box...

Now i'm thinking can we even play long balls to change from sides to sides? It's a very important tactic in football to send a long ball from 1 side to another side...especially to create a counter attack...and please don't tell me by creating counter attacks is also a forbidden move please sweat.gif

What i can really suggest is...if the rule has to stand where long balls are forbidden to be used on own half to the opponent's half...then please state some exceptions out...remember the rule is implemented for fair play...and the fair play issue is to avoid a chance for a striker to receive a long ball and then have the 1v1 chance against the keeper...so please stress the rule on such situations only...

That means if by any chance a player presses A or D and the ball goes all the way to the striker...then the ball should be played out straight away...if he continues to use the striker to run towards the goal and scores...the goal is not counted...so the exceptions will be:

1. Clearance by using D or A are allowed. This applies only if the ball drops in your own half.

2. Sending long balls around the field is allowed BUT sending a long ball straight to the striker (which will look darn obvious) to create a 1v1 chance from your OWN HALF is forbidden. If such situation occurs, the player should kick the ball out of play or else a warning will be issued.

Luige i respect the marshal decisions on setting the rules but please understand that we are the gamers and i think the gamers know the game best and also our feedbacks are quite important to assist in setting up a better and fairer rules. I myself never use the long ball tactic at all but i just think by banning all long balls in own half regardless of any situations is too absurd. So i hope my suggestions will be noted as i think they are quite fair and wouldn't create troubles also. If you don't think the rules are good, i hope to know what are the bad sides of them. I hope to get a reply for my questions as well, thanks. smile.gif

And yeah, i know rules are meant for fair play...but to think in a rational way...banning all long balls in own half doesn't solve the issue only but it also creates problems...i don't see any unfair plays that will happen even if long balls are still allowed...as we all still know, the only unfair play issue is to send a long ball straight to the striker to create a 1v1 chance against the keeper

To make it simple, clearence by "D" is allowed. Some might cry foul if "A" is also allowed as it WILL try to pass to your teammate.
And yes, we do feel that we have the right on say on how to play the game, as WE ARE the ones going to play it. Too much rules will definately kill the mood for gamers, and a bane to their gameplay.
*
We all should remember why the long ball is an issue here...it's because we do not want to have the lame and easy way for the striker to get a 1v1 chance against the keeper...so even if you use A in your own half, as long as you don't send a long ball straight to your striker which results in creating a 1v1 chance...then it's still reasonable and the game can continue to be played fairly

Yeah we all should know why tournaments are held...to only promote the companies and sponsor brands? Are that the only reasons? I believe the main reason is to help grow the gaming community in Malaysia as well...gamers join tourneys to have the experience and to learn to be better...gamers are the ones who will play and compete in the tourney...you can't say "Ahhh why do we care about the gamers complaints...just set a normal list of rules and then continue with it...they want to play then they play...or else don't join"...this is not a reason to why more tourneys are held every year...i believe organizers do also hope the gamers feel better and happy in participating tourneys so that they will join again next year to support the tourneys...if really such absurd rules are implemented...gamers feel it's unreasonable and there's no fun to it...then less gamers will bother about the tourneys or putting efforts in coming all they way from other states to join the tourneys...besides that if we play and train under such different rules here, how do you expect if the gamers are to compete in the world finals which have a different set of rules?

Thanks for looking into my suggestions luige smile.gif

Yeah we know that it's hard for you to make decisions as well and you can't satisfy each of us here...but i believe most of us have the same views on rules...even if there are some different rules...you always have the rights to choose which suggestions are best and fairest to you.

Yeah no offend here...i'm sorry if my posts looked like a bunch of complaints to you...but all i was trying to do was to sound what i have in my mind and hope a best list of rules will be used at the end of the day...thanks again for reading our posts and considering our suggestions again.

QUOTE(bpwx @ Sep 22 2007, 02:37 PM)
Yea, we all know you're trying your best luige and we really appreciate it... It's not easy to make FAIR rules as FIFA 2007 is just so damn BUGGY...

About Accelerator7's suggestion, I want to ask about another situation :

I made a clearance and when the ball was high in the air, my player WON the challenge for the ball with another opposing player by chesting the ball..... He then proceeds to out-run the defender, making it a 1v1 chance....Does this count as a "long ball straight to the striker for a 1v1" chance? For me, I don't think so as you have to WIN the ball.... For me, the "long ball straight to the striker" is like, just doing the long ball and AUTOMATICLY getting a 1v1 chance without problems.. My situation was needing to WIN the ball in the air, and actually out-running the defender....So what about my problem?
*
It is this kind of situations that spark a long argument and headaches to the marshals...so i think the best way is to appoint a marshal to monitor each game that's going on...if the marshal thinks it's unfair then the ball should be kicked out of play immediately by the order of the marshal...and that's why to avoid things like that...just don't send a long ball to the striker which will end up something like an easy 1v1 chance...just don't send a long ball to the strikers...if you did it after a clearance...then just kick the ball back to your own half to continue a fair play, just kick the ball out of play or just let the opponent wins the ball...well the problems are huge already and try not to bombard the marshals with more questions...sometimes just play by your own senses of sportsmanship...you do what's right and complain what's wrong in a reasonable and sportsmanship way...that's the best biggrin.gif

QUOTE(highwind @ Sep 22 2007, 02:59 PM)
Let me tell you my experience of playing with the new rules. I tried around 4-5 games with the new rule, and i think it is almost impossible to play without using 'D' at own half. There are certain situation where you really have to clear without even thinking. There was also this situation where, my defender was surrounded by opponents' strike force, and i still resist myself from using 'D', it ended up i give the ball away to the striker and that striker get a one on one situation and i conceded a goal. It's pretty frustrated in this case where i think forbidding myself from using D cause me that goal.

What happen if the usage of 'A' is forbidden at own half? This is what happen. I got a fullback who is holding the ball, who is pressured by a winger and a striker. I couldn't pass forward as my path is blocked. The only thing i can do is to lob the ball using 'A' to the other fullback so that i can have a clear path to attack. But i can't do that as 'A' is forbidden at own half. So I hope the  'A' button is still usable as it is part of one's strategy in attacking. The other kind of move that i can do is to pass back to my goalkeeper to send to another fullback, but this will make the opponent want to complain that i am trying to 'waste time'.

I know it is hard to satisfy everyone, but this is just my suggestion and my experience here playing with the new rule. I have a suggestion that is to use the new WCG rule v2.0 to solve most of the problems.

Thank You

QUOTE(falcon76 @ Sep 22 2007, 04:26 PM)
RULES:
Players are not allowed to use any kind of long ball from their own half. ( Where the ball travels from own half to another half )
-Long passes to opponent's half
-Defensive clearance

QUESTIONS:
What if i make long passes using S or W, is it still considered legal move?
Or can i say that as long as the LONG passes is on the ground (S or W), it will be considered legal move ?
*
Falcon, the LONG PASSES meant in the rules are all about long passes which are HIGH UP ON THE AIR. It seems like you still don't know why the rule is being implemented in such a way. Haha what kinda unfair plays can we actually make by making long grounder passes? sweat.gif

QUOTE(luige @ Sep 22 2007, 04:38 PM)
What if...

All kind of long ball is allowed, even Q combinations
but....

you cant pass with long ball directly to striker, midfielder is the furthest you can pass to

juz a suggestion
*
Luige, well i think you don't have to abolish the rule of forbidding Q+A/D/W combinations from own half. I still think it's best to have that rule there. Just make sure that there's no long ball directly to strikers. It's best if you can appoint 1 marshal for each game playing. Just ask the marshal to take watch the game and see if any unfair play happens during the game. See if any gamer that purposely or accidentally send a long pass to his striker and then create a 1v1 chance. It's very obvious to see. If the marshal feels it's unfair, then he can order the player to kick the ball out of play.

QUOTE(highwind @ Sep 22 2007, 05:19 PM)
Well, for a free kick that is 19 metre, usually a human player will tap as soft as possible to score after adjusting the proper angle. So, besides taking it manually, you can just wait for a while (probably 10-15 sec) then the computer will automatically kick the ball. The power that the computer kick will be very soft, usually it will ensure a goal. So that is why goal scored from computer free kick is not allowed.

Added on September 22, 2007, 5:25 pm

Well, there are few things to take note of if like that:

1. You need a lot of marshal to monitor each game. Because no replay for such incident happened.

2. Your marshal need to memorize the player's line up. Some players will put Ronaldo as midfielder, the marshal might mistaken that he is a striker. Yepz, he is a striker, but he played him as midfielder and there is no problem to it. Brazil have lots of strikers and some have to sacrifice as midfielder.

3. For a formation that has AMC, does he consider as a striker also? Because he stands so up in front.

So, I think the rule above is not do-able.  sweat.gif But still, it's just my suggestion.

Loon, i think Luige obviously meant "striker" as in the player who's at the front most, right beside the center defenders of his opponent. Luige was just referring to the position of the players instead of the really "strikers" you're talking about lolz.

To understand the rule better, i've simply drawn a simple diagram of it:

Haha i didn't know i took 30 minutes to draw that diagram lolz tongue.gif

Haha loon i wonder why you have to say until like that. It's very simple only. Just based on the diagram i've drawn, any long balls that are sent directly to the furthest players, who are just next to the opponent's defenders, are not allowed. No matter what formation you use, where you put your strikers at, the thing that marshal needs to watch out is there's no long ball that will be sent to the player who is just beside the last defender, thus creating a 1v1 chance if the player just turned and run towards the goal. That's why i purposely drew the diagram to give a better view of the rule.

Yeah that's clear also Luige smile.gif

Please don't complain about whether it's International or Club. Any which of it will have no difference. Learn to use both of them.

if u guys volunteer to become marshal, then i will have 1 marshal for each game biggrin.gif

if ther's not internet connection, ok...
- Q combinations is banned
- No DIRECT LONG BALL TO STRIKER POSITION / FURTHEST PLAYER
- Long ball which required challenges will still be banned

at the moment, tat's it
i will update the rules by tmr
*
Yeah Luige, those are the rules i'm supporting and suggesting as well thumbup.gif

Another thing i would like to add, I hope there's internet connection as well. Not for only FIFAbot, but also for the Online Patcher. I believe that the Online Patcher needs internet connection to work. If there's no internet connection available, the Online Patcher will not work and the game speed will be NORMAL and the difficulty level is not WORLD CLASS, like what happened during WCG. Since the rules stated we should play FAST and WORLD CLASS, then i think we should really play like how the rules have stated. Unless, the Offline Patcher will work for our versions because it was said that the Offline Patcher will probably work only for German, France and UK versions. Anyway, i think i will do some experiments on both the Online and Offline patchers and will get to you soon.

QUOTE(bpwx @ Sep 23 2007, 05:50 PM)
Your second point : About this furthest player thing, its quite hard to judge... Seriusly... How do you determine the furthest player? Sometimes in the game, the striker can be in the midfield position even when they set the striker in the striker position when setting their team managements.... Sometimes, midfielders can be in striker positions in counter attacks and/or when the player sets his team to 'attack mode'....

Your third point : You should know that clearances with 'D' and 'A' are simultaneously long balls which requires challenges as well... For example, when I clear the ball with 'D' and 'A', the ball will then reach the place where my striker fights with the defender for the header, thus becoming the 'long ball that requires a challenge'.... By banning it, you're actually banning the clearance using 'D' and 'A' as well..... Like what highwind said before, its almost impossible to defend by banning the usage of it... To be honest, normally in fighting for the ball in the air during the challenge for the ball from the long ball, the defending player will have the advantage, for me at least. Because the attacking player will be looking to chest the ball while the defending player will be looking to head the ball...So I don't see any reason to ban it...

P.S. I'm not trying to be bossy in demanding that my stuff be made the rules, but I think I speak for most of the FIFA participants out there when stating my case....
*
QUOTE(bpwx @ Sep 23 2007, 07:42 PM)
When defending, I clear the ball in a counter attack to Fernando Torress. Fernando Torress is my "furthest player" while Fabregas is not my furthest player, but my 2nd furthest player, who's nearby and starts moving. When Torress receives the ball, he then passes to Fabregas who is now further away from him... My opponent then complains that I did a long ball to Fernando Torress, who was my furthest player.... I argue that Torress is NOT my most furthest player, but Fabregas is... And we argue and argue.....See what I mean?
*
BPWX, i think you are still unclear with the rules. I think the 3 rules are good enough.

Again, let's not forget what's the long ball issue is.

LONG BALL STRAIGHT TO THE PLAYER WHO CAN EASILY RECEIVES THE BALL AND RUN STRAIGHT TOWARDS TO THE GOAL TO HAVE A 1V1 CHANCE WHILE THE OPPOSING TEAM'S DEFENDER CAN ONLY WATCH IN HORROR!

Ok with that, just forget about whether the player is a defender, midfielder or striker. It doesn't matter. As long as a long ball is sent from own half and directly to a player who got past the last defender, receive it and start sprinting like mad cow straight to the keeper, THIS IS NOT ALLOWED! And this is darn obvious to see. Whether it's fair or unfair. Once you see your opponent did this, just raise your hand and ask for the marshal, AT THE SAME TIME, warn your opponent about it.

You are just making unnecessary comments on the clearance rule. Before that long balls are banned and it's unacceptable because we can't clear the ball. Now we can clear ball but you still want to comment on whether you can challenge the ball to continue your attack? It's already good enough for you to clear the ball at the first place. And i tell you, if you clear the ball from your penalty box area with D of course, the ball will end up in your own half. Only if you use A to clear with full bar, the ball might reach the opponent's half. In this case, just let your opponent wins the possession while you feel grateful that you've cleared the ball from a dangerous situation. This is not a necessary thing to be worried of i think.

Regarding your second post, about the Torres situation, i don't think there's any problem to it. As long as the long ball doesn't result in a DIRECT 1V1 CHANCE, then it's not a situation which is UNFAIR. The thing here is Torres who received the ball first, then only he passes to the other player. This case is fair and it does not create any lame and easy 1v1 chance.

Please do not just look at the rule but please imagine also how something will be looked as UNFAIR play. You guys start to include other situations other than the straight long ball to the player who's standing right behind the last defender and NOT GETTING AN OFFSIDE.

Again, i think my diagram explains all. Any situations are allowed but as long as a player is standing with the opposing team's last defender, you are not allow to pass to him. This can be clearly seen as unfair when the player starts running past the defender while the ball is still on the air, receives it and starts running towards the keeper without any other defenders around to stop him. Please remember that this applies to long ball from OWN HALF straight to the opponent's half.

*Note that now i start to use the term PLAYER instead of STRIKER. Because it doesn't matter what the receiving player is. As long as the situation is any of your player from your own half sends a high and long ball to the opponent's half and ANY PLAYER who runs past the last defender without any offside and straight get an easy 1v1 chance, it's not allowed. If any of these situations happen, you're expecting your opponent to kick the ball out of play or he does not run straight to the goal. If you accidentally sent a long ball to your player and you see it's kinda unfair, then just BE A MAN and lose the possession OR you can pass back to your own half to retain possession and slowly attack back up. Think this to avoid any arguments. If a gamer is good, long balls are not the only way to score. In football, it needs creativity to create chances to score. I rest my long and repetitive explanations yawn.gif smile.gif

It HAS DIFFERENCE.It has difference in quality between the international and club.Besides, ive never got a chance to use a club in any competitions ive ever enter.
*
Yeah it has a difference. You only can choose the best team THAT SUITS YOU in either International or Club. So start doing some research and picking a team in INTERNATIONAL to start your practice. There's no use to only stick to a team to play with in FIFA 07. Start trying other teams as well, International teams and Club teams. At the end of the day, during the tournament, your opponent will also use an International team. If you like you can choose the same team as he's using, so there's no argument to say "His team is better than mine". It's all about your own creativity, skills and formation you use. Good luck! biggrin.gif

What if I made a full 'A' bar to one of my striker.. It didn't result in a 1v1 chance automaticaly with my striker already running to receive the ball, but my striker had to WIN the ball by chesting the ball, then turning around and out-running the defender, resulting in a 1v1 chance for me? Is THIS allowed?

Now another issue, what if in a counter attack where my opponents throw all their players in attack already, leaving almost NO defenders behind. I cleared the ball with 'D' and the ball arrived on my striker... Since there are no defenders as they were too busy attacking, it is legal for my striker to run all the way for a 1v1 chance?
*
Why you wanna ask so much about such questions leh? Well just don't do a long ball from your own half to your striker. That's IT! Don't care chest or win or struggle or steal, just don't do any long balls to the furthest player to avoid problems to yourself. As i've said, if you're good enough, you don't need to depend on such situations in order to get goals only. Pass the ball back and slowly work your way up.

In that issue, i knew what kinda situation you're meaning as i've tried before. Normally your strikers will still stand in the middle line while the opposing team defenders are all up. So just cross the ball to the strikers who are still on the middle line. IN MY OWN OPINION, i don't see this as any unfair play. It's the carelessness of the opponent himself to press Q Q Q Q Q too many times until the defenders are all up. So if you ask me, i guess that's allowed. But you know Luige is da boss here! laugh.gif

1. Goals being scored the above methods will be disallowed and the oppossing player that did the invalid move be given a yellow card for unsportsmanship or just a warning?

2. If the player accidentally does the move, be it without an intention, what should the player do?
    a. kick the ball out for throw in for the opposing player?
    b. end the attacking run and repass back the playin ball back to his midfielders or defenders (push the ball back
below the half line and continues the game with the ball in his side?)
*
1. Goals will definitely not be counted if scored in such forbidden methods. I suggest gamers to just raise your arm or stand up to call for a marshal as soon as you see your opponent continues with his run towards your goal. I think gamers should be briefed first about the new rules before starting. Even after that, some gamers might do it on accidental. I don't think anyone will dare to do it since they have been briefed and warned. If you can notice your opponent purposely do the long ball and run straight towards your goal, he definitely will get a yellow card for his act.

2. In my opinion, i think option (b) should be used. As long as you don't do the unfair long ball to get an easy goal, that's good enough. Have some sportsmanship and pass the ball all the way back below the half line. With this i think it's fair to both gamers. Whoever wins the ball, he gets the possession. And if the attacking side wins the ball, he's fair enough to not launch an attack but pass back instead in order not to create the lame 1v1 chance. Well this sounds crazy if you are talking about this in REAL FOOTBALL laugh.gif but well this is FIFA 07 and there are rules, so we just will have to follow the rules and after all rules are there for FAIR PLAYS thumbup.gif

Ken you should know that only a few of us read this thread and my long essay explanations lolz. So many of the gamers will not know exactly what it means and how it is. That time will have lotsa questions bombarding the marshals also. So i think it's also needed to gather all players and then Luige explains the rules, especially the long ball rules.

. You cannot change the midfield or attacking players to deactivate the covering of your
opponent. If you want to change a tactic or formation, you must pass the ball to your opponent
after the change
All rules are quite the same to the WGT rules but note the 2 bold rules. These 2 rules are crucial in assisting the long ball rules and i hope Luige will consider in implementing them as well smile.gif

I think that is now LEGAL.... I think it will be like CGS, where you can use any long ball combinations you want, as long as it isn't the illegal ones which are detected by the fifabot....

At first i thought the long ball rule is already discussed and thought to be an ideal rule for WGT...how come suddenly the rule was abolished without any notice? shakehead.gif

That time said the rules were fixed and finalized, but then all of a sudden the long ball is taken out without any notice. Therefore, we won't know if there's new rule to be added in or an old rule to be taken out again.
