 Can I connect internet fibre direct to a switch?

I don't know anything about networking stuff.

I saw some of the switch has SFP port, can I use internet fibre cable with SFP module on the switch to get internet access? hmm.gif

I would like to ask if you can recommend me the smart managed switch and ONU stick with high CP value to setup such things?
I really don't have a clue to buy a switch. Those future proof device can cost thousand. rclxub.gif

SFP xPON ONU Stick Type B (Universal):
3. TWC TWCGPON657 (Realtek RTL9601C1 Soc, V2801F Firmware)
4. VSOL V2801F (Realtek RTL9601C1 Soc, V2801F Firmware)

As you can see, only V2801F firmware work on any kind of fiber network, V2801F can override many OMCI Provisioning also can send FAKE OK to OLT, telling that provisioning was success

Many SFP xPON ONU Stick are Type A, since stick only have 1 physical LAN, thus LAN 1 provisioning work just fine.

Also, when you using SFP xPON ONU Stick you can set MTU Size to 2000 bytes, set LAN and VLAN to 1508 MTU, and finally PPPoE 1500 MTU
because GPON has fixed MTU Size which is 2000 bytes, use it to reduce fragmentation, Maxis Fiber support PPPoE 1500MTU, I have tested it using RB3011UiAS

Hmm.. Nevermind, now I have a clue that these two SFP moduler can be used in all fibre optic companies in Malaysia. I will do some research on these moduler.

In Malaysia we do not have successful active P2P Ethernet for home consumers yet as initial build out costs is too expensive and you need to have 2 pairs to serve pure duplex mode for real symmetrical speeds to your customers.
For corporations and big time companies which colocations and hook their company network directly to Metro Ethernet that's an entire different story.

Actually at first, I just looked at normal switch. I started to explore and found that there are two type of switch, unmanaged and smart managed.
After research for a while, I found that some of the switch have PoE/PoE+(Do I need it?), then VLAN, then SFP/SFP+, then L2/L2+/L3..
I wonder if it is possible to link with TM-Unifi using SFP slot, so no need for onu/ont device anymore. That's why I post in forum and ask.

Ya, I found out that xPON refer to universal adapter.
Is ATM equal to those ADSL, EPON or GPON? I learned that EPON download/upload speed 1.25Gbps, GPON download speed higher a bit, 2.5Gbps.
nas0_0 refer to xPON adapter interface?
