Need some advise. I'm planning to get wireless home alarm system and cctv kit. While checking the review I notice that the app which will set up the system require wifi password to complete the configuration.

Is it safe to key in wifi password in app developed by the alarm system company from China?

Meanwhile, can someone suggest reliable alarm system and cctv?

Wired > wireless

Its modular system so you can attach wireless sensors.

But i prefer hardwired.

Retrofitting wireless is a solution.

Personally I'd suggest you to use 2 different systems, means wireless alarm is not connected to the wireless cctv. At least if one is hacked, chances are the other one is still somewhat safe.

Secondly I've used both wired and wireless cctv and alarm system.
For CCTV, wired system is the best IF and only IF your wiring is good. If not for the wiring problem and mess, we would have continued using wired cctv. Our wireless cctv (bought from aliexpress) was hacked (there was some message left when viewing the CCTV) I think within a year. I think some script kiddies just run a script which somehow our wireless cctv decoder are vulnerable to it.

For alarm system, I think wireless is the best. We're gradually changing our old wired alarm system to use a wireless system (kerui, bought from shopee). Almost every year there'd be a problem with the wired alarm system (wayar putus, tikus/tupai gigit etc). Not to mention the mess with the alarm system wiring. The only cons with wireless alarm system I think is the batteries needed for each of the sensor. I think need to change it once a year.

Thanks for your suggestion. The wireless alarm setting is through app right? Does it require you to key in wifi password?
