Ferrari celebrate 200th Grand Prix win

Ferrari reached a Formula One double century in China on Sunday after Kimi Raikkonen gave the team their 200th Grand Prix victory. Once polesitter Lewis Hamilton had retired, Raikkonen ran unchallenged to the flag to keep his 2007 title hopes alive. Team mate Felipe Massa was third.

"It is great to be able to celebrate Scuderia Ferrari's two hundredth victory in Formula One, here in Shanghai, at the end of a difficult race, further complicated by the unpredictability of the changes in the weather," commented team principal Jean Todt.

"Kimi brings his total tally of the season to five and this is the team's eighth. He drove an extraordinary race, without committing the slightest error. Felipe had a good race, helping us to see how the dry weather tyres were working at a critical moment. Unfortunately, the rain returned for a brief period, which affected his race."

Raikkonen had been quickest throughout most of the weekend, but admitted he was still slightly surprised with how the race had unfolded. He now heads to Brazil seven points behind championship leader Hamilton and just three adrift of second-placed Fernando Alonso.

"Last week in Fuji, we were unlucky but today things went right for us," said the Finn. "We have had yet another example that in this sport anything can happen. The situation in the drivers' classification is still difficult, but I will try everything to win in Brazil, even if the final outcome does not just depend on what we do. It should be a great battle, very hard to predict and interesting."

It was a good day all round for Ferrari, whose engines also powered Toro Rosso to fourth and sixth courtesy of Sebastian Vettel and Vitantonio Liuzzi.[+]
