great race by kimi. Still a little chance for WDC, very little, but not impossible. Who knows, Alonso may take Hamilton out, if McLaren is not going to allow him to beat Hamilton, he'd rather see Kimi winning it.

Hamilton: No chance Ferrari

Eurosport - Sun, 16 Sep 17:02:00 2007

Lewis Hamilton has dismissed Kimi Raikkonen's championship challenge, saying he is focused squarely on beating Fernando Alonso.

After struggling to fourth place in the Belgian GP, the Briton's championship lead over Alonso is just two points, while Raikkonen closed to within 13 points with three races to go.

But despite giving up nearly a second a lap to the Finn at Spa, Hamilton said Raikkonen was not even in his thoughts.

"I'm not really bothered about Ferrari, they're a bit out of the picture. For me the thing is to beat Fernando," he told ITV.

After slipping helplessly behind both Ferraris and Alonso, Hamilton viowed to come out fighting in Japan next fortnight.

"The car didn't feel too bad but I just wasn't able to gain any time throughout the race. We need to find out why that is, but we got points so it's not too bad.

"I'm going to be very, very aggressive next couple of races."

The Briton had to back off after going side-by-side with Alonso through the legendary Eau Rouge corner on the opening lap.

The Spaniard appeared to force Hamilton off the track on the opening corner before slamming the door in uncompromising fashion when the rookie came back at him seconds later.

But Alonso said he was always confident holding off the rookie and insisted they did not touch wheels.

"At the first corner Felipe locked the front tyre a little bit and was blocking the inside so I had no space - so I had a bad exit from turn one," he said.

"Lewis also ran a little bit wide. We arrived wheel-by-wheel going into turn three [Eau Rouge] but I was lucky to be on the inside to keep position from him.

"On this occasion I was quite confident and happy with my position into this corner so I was not too worried. I had one lap less fuel than him to I knew I should be quicker."

Um, so is it confirmed? our world champion !?!

I think more or less Lewis will stay put at where he finish.

Firstly, FIA usually punish the team for this kind of mistake, not the drivers.

If in the rare case they punish the driver, it doesn't meant Lewis will automatically move up the grid. It's up to the steward to decide whether or not to move Lewis up, and I think they have many reasons not to do so. If they do so, it will even cause more trouble to F1.

I think the best solution is, if FIA decided to punish them, is take away the team's point for that race. They won't want to change the championship outcome like that.

sweet stuff!
kimi wdc, finally, at last!
but then this season he really lucky cause thinking back, trailing by 7 points is no easy task to get the wdc, moreover there is apelonso in between.

anyway, congrats! Ferrari and Kimi!

WDC & WCC!!

Hmmm... I think it's even out, since we Ferrari have our own share of bad luck also, with Kimi retiring because of mechanical problems.

So its Hammy turn to get his share of bad luck tongue.gif

From ITV-F1

Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher will return to a competitive Formula 1 environment for the first time since his retirement when he competes in an official test for Ferrari at Barcelona next week.

The 38-year-old German will test the title-winning F2007 on both Tuesday and Wednesday at the Spanish circuit in the first group test following the end of the season.

Following his retirement from F1 at the end of 2006, Ferrari has left the door open for its most successful ever driver to test its car and a team spokesman has confirmed the German has now expressed this wish.

"Yes, he will test it on Tuesday and Wednesday," a spokesman told ITV-F1.com

"As we have always said throughout the year, if Michael had the desire to drive the car, we would be happy to fulfil his desire.

"Of course, for us it is helpful to have his input in the development of the car."

Schumacher's input into the team's work ahead of 2008 will prove particularly useful in Spain as F1 begins the start of an era without traction control and other 'driver aids'.

Traction control has been allowed in the sport since the 2001 Spanish Grand Prix - meaning world champion Kimi Raikkonen only has limited experience of driving an F1 car without it, while team-mate Felipe Massa has none.

Schumacher meanwhile has plenty, meaning he will have an important role next week.

"Michael has a big experience in driving cars with no traction control and no electronic aids, so it makes sense for him to give his input," Schumacher's spokeswoman told Reuters.
The great is back.

Let him show the way to driving without TC to all the drivers out there...

I can see the logic behind that. If they are not going to have TC, all teams will now race to build a car that works great without TC.

From that picture, there's nothing wrong overtaking, since you cannot cut into the opposite lane when overtaking.

Its not going to be easy. Yesterday Kimi's car set up struggled when the temperature went up.

Unless they can find something special, we better hope its a cool day today and tomorrow

Kimi needs to win this race. from the past, most of the time the driver who wins the first race win the entire championship. Not always, but usually, especially if the winner is a strong driver, not like DC or Fisi...
