I'm planning to buy a second hand car but I want to change the car plate number

Anyone have friends or have offer this service?
I'm not sure how much it will cost but I think it's around rm1000 exclude car plate number.

Anyone can help?

New number plate come with new vehicle. You cannot simply buy new number plate to put on 2nd hand vehicle.
The cheapest way is to buy new motorcycle (cheap one), get your dream number plate for the motorcycle. Then transfer that number plate to your 2nd hand car.

Some bike shop offer sewa k1 service you no need buy bike just to throw away your plate

As far as i know, no swapping number plates between two old vehicles.

Even if both cars already registered under my name?

The normal rule is you need an unregistered vehicle to interchange number plates.

When buying a new vehicle, you can swap your old plate number to the new car and put the new plate number to the old car.

For 2 already registered cars, maybe need to do the motorcycle way.

yezza..plate already registered can only register new vehicle. old car cannot. old with new can, old with old cannot..

old number not been register yet however can. lets say u bought 2nd hand car, and u hate the number. u can find nice old number at jpj.

pray hard lets say if u have nice number example M1. and met accident. in order to keep the number, u need to register to new car. if u too broke, can register new cheap motorcycle first.

I have seen a lil bit old mercedez/bmw with vvip number and they drive quite behave. if they met accident. need to buy newer bmw/merc. lol.

Only unregistered vehicles can take new plate.

Normally, people buy old number plates for new cars and NOT vice versa.

Want new plate, then buy new car.

You are missing on the concept. You are actually transferring your old vehicle number to a new, unregistered vehicle that you own. It is just a lucky coincidence that since your old vehicle now doesn't have a number plate, you get to put a new number on to it (great if you have won a booking for your favourite number, but it will be a running number if you haven't)

Basically you are doing a Transfer.
Not sure how moto works but should be similar to car.
1. Go puspakom inspection (B2) ( Book appointment online, pay around rm30)
2. Go JPJ, perform transfer ( 100rm I think) .

I did this before, get your new number through JPJ website, either by bidding or leftover numbers.

Once you own the number plate, print the offer letter from JPJ and get 2nd hand car dealers to do for you.

They have runners and you pay them some fees to get this done.

I usually engaged runner.
