My wife is going to do HSG x ray tomorrow, the doctor ask her to eat antibiotic pill for 1 week after that ( worry got infection after xray), and also 6 tablets of different pills (pain killer) 30minutes before the xray.
Is this a normal practice? And is the xray safe, will cause any possible side effect? And the overall process fast? Will cause severe pain?

As for me, doc suggest antibiotic to be taken 1 day before HSG and painkiller (celebrex 400mg) taken 1 hour before HSG.
for the process, depend on the doctor. For me, the time waiting for doctor is longer than the process. when doc already insert the fluid through vagina, the results can be seen within 5minutes on the screen. But have to wait for 30minutes after that for recovery. I dont feel any pain might be because i had the painkiller an hour before hsg. but some of my friends said they did feel pain. Depend on the doctor maybe.
