Scream (also informally known as Scream 5) is a 2022 American slasher film directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. It is the fifth installment in the Scream film series. Though billed as a relaunch of the film series, the film is a direct sequel to Scream 4 (2011), and the first in the series not to be directed by Wes Craven. The film is dedicated to Craven at the beginning of the closing credits.[5] The film stars Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, and Jack Quaid, alongside Marley Shelton, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell, who reprise their roles from previous installments. In this film, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town's deadly past.

Scream (2022)

It is incredible to thinnk that the first scream was release in 1996.

When it was first release it made alot of money.

With a "low budget" and a slew of up and coming young actors the movie made a killing at the box office.

Wes Craven was persuaded to make a second. Which from a production point of view it was a disaster.

The full script was leaked and Wes had to have the script writer at hand to rewrite the script on the fly.

The actors got their rewritten script piece meal

Special paper was used that made sure the script could not be photocopied...

The second did not gainer the critic and the viewing public and have toadd, it still made enough to have part 3 greenlit and made.

The third was much better and still the original just had that little magic that made it special.

Scream 4 (2011) was supposed to spearhead a new trilogy.... and it didnot (not enough box office)

And now, Scream 5....

They managed to get 4(?) actors from the first movie to return.

Focus is NOT on them.

New kids.

New kills.

New blood!

Seriously blood

Blood is everywhere in this movie

The kills are bloody.

Probably the bloodiest of the series.

There are some leap of faith in the storyline.

If you can accept that, you will enjoy the movie.

What amuses me is

If you love the movie series (not the TV series) you will like this.

Script... can be a little clunky at some parts.

Overall it is a good continuation of the movie series.

Appetizer for the 2022 greatness

I just watched this movie.

Surprisingly I enjoyed watching this movie. You need to throw your logic out of the window when watching this.

What I don't undetstand with our movie censorship is this movie is for people age 18 and above. We are adult and we know what's good and wrong.

Censor the swearing words are unnecessary.

I watched The King's Man at the cinema, which was also R Rated, and F-bomb were flying everywhere and it was fine!!

The opening scene is trying to revisit the first movie and try to evoke nostalgia

I dont like it. It is like watching a remake, but I can accept that it has to start somewhere. This is creative opening scene

After that, things went downhill

I didnt want to watch further

Watched it.

Mary Sue, both old gen and new gen.

Pandered to the enfranchised. Too much nostalgia for new audiences.

Decent reboot. New gen can carry the franchise forward.

Haha still remembering my 1st RM5 VCD ever bought near my old house with my lunch box money is Scream 1996 and i still vividly remember the shaky image bcuz its shaky recorded 1 week on cinema release already
