Remote controlled 3 speed fans were prone to nonlinear or no speed regulation.

There's a good cheap way to solve it by bypassing the remote control and speed regulator board inside the fan.

You need to know how to read the diagrams, how to locate the wires and have the hand skills to rewire the fan.

Easier to change the capacitor. Cost about RM1 the last time I did it.
Already done it for 3 fans in the house. This is after 12 years of use

What is the brand and model no. of your fans? Where to buy capacitor?

The reason is mainly for those who have cheap local brands that were made in China. The motors are good but the controller boards are terrible and changing capacitors might not solve the problems

It is usually one of the big capacitors went bad. Even if you don't know which one, just change all of them and still way cheaper than get it repaired outside. You probably need soldering skill though.
Those capacitors are common and easily available and make sure you replace same type, not just value.

Why waste time , just use ewelink ifan03 to replace the regulator.

Makesure you have a correct capacitor. Don't be like me back in highschool, try to OC the fan after learning it from kemahiran hidup class.
Aftermath was capacitor blew and the hot wax flew everywhere. Lucky it is not shit.

for my alpha remote control fan, i just purchased the capactiors and replaced all of them - a bunch of yellow capacitors and one black capacitor.
yes there's some work involved, you need to solder them, but it's better for the environment and your wallet.
Imagine every 5 years need to buy a new fan - it's a total waste.
If you're lazy to do soldering, just purchase a new PCB board and plug and play, this method can save money too.

Any electronic shop will do like in Pasar road. Normally polyester type used (non-polarized). Shop will know usually. Each one is not even RM10. Probably RM4~5?

All 3 capacitor regulate speed but normally one faulty. Can buy multi-meter that can measure capacitance. China brand cheap. Even Fluke for China market is sold here and very cheap compare to international version.

How to OC? highest speed is without filter, see diagram 1

As an electronics engineering ex-student, my soldering skills are still OK

Where do you buy the capacitors and how much?
