Hi all, needed abit advice here. Have to admit it is my mistake for buying i5 11400 together with MSI B460 Bomber mobo. Wanted to know anyone tried installing 11th Gen Intel CPU into B460 board? Because when i tried power on the mobo seem like no response, no sign of fan spinning, is this normal when installing CPU into incompatible chipset mobo? I worried will causes the mobo short circuit or faulty because planning to sell it and buy another B560 board.

Intel has confirmed that its upcoming 11th generation Rocket Lake-S processor will not be compatible with the budget H410 or B460 chipsets. According to an updated support page cited by VideoCardz, the 400-series chipsets of the company will be getting BIOS updates to assist the brand new Rocket Lake processors, while the motherboards primarily based on Intel B460 or H410 chipsets will not be compatible with the upcoming 11th-generation Intel Core processors. The company implied that the motherboards primarily based on H470, Q470, or Z490 chipsets will be getting the support.

The seller willing to exchange B560 mobo for me. He tested the B460 mobo i receive and is working fine. So to confirm everything, installing 11th Gen Intel CPU into 400 series chipset mobo will end up the PC have no respond at all, not even a single fan spin. Wasn't mobo issue.
