I'll be connecting the monitor to my laptop. I believe my video card can't support 4k well so a 1080p monitor will do. My main usage is to have a 2nd screen to watch videos while I work on my laptop. I like to put on travel/scenic videos so I'm looking at monitors which support HDR or have good colour I guess.
Based on my research VA seems good for the dramatic contrast but IPS panels sounds like an all rounder. I can't figure out which would be better. My budget is less than 1k. Any recs guys?
Add a few more bucks then you can get 32" IPS with WQHD resolution (2560x1440) And yes, your laptop can support 2K resolution
Things to note: Yes 32" may seem big, but once you get used to it, you can never go smaller again
Thanks, somehow my brain jumped straight to 4k, and forgot 2K res also exists lol. 32" is a bit big though haha. My desk space right now is a little cramped hence was looking for a 24" or 27" at most.

VA is good enough for video watching. Here's one you can check out, great colour display and within your budget range:
Thanks this one looks promising. Also think i'm set on an IPS panel now after watching a side by side comparison of VA and IPS. That smearing on VA looks really bad for dark mode users like me

Hard to find IPS Panel with 2K resolution on 27 inch screen below 1K Unless you can accept those unknown brands
That's why the 32" is the sweet spot
