Hey guys, I'm looking to change my tires and would like some recommendations. First time picking my own set of rubbers and a real newbie when it comes to this. Need some sifu inputs on choosing.

Im currently on Accelera 651, sized at 195/50. As per above, my rim size is 15x8jj.

I'm thinking to go 205/50, if that's okay. Just unsure which brand to go for. This car is my daily driver and mostly used for loads of city driving.

8jj wide rims is too wide for 205 & 195.

You should change your rims to 7jj wide to suit 205 wide tyres.

Many brands to choose from, advanti, konig, raxer, wedsport, enkei, etc. Make sure they are original.

15x8 rims is difficult to match with normal street tires cuz too wide for small diameter. 205/50/15 can but already a bit stretched and even that is already not many choices, just a few extreme category tires. So best is just change rims with narrower 15x7jj so you can use 195 tires which is widely available.

Alamak... However I do have eyes on Konig. And am a fan of wide wide rims. Just my taste. I did that because I wanted to fit Evo3 twinpot brakes.

But I also wanna ask, if there is any adverse effects of running a stretched tire?

Evo 3 brake kit is just a twinpot like others, not much diff. Most if not all 15” would be clear to pnp. What’s the rotor size, 285?

Evo 3 twinpot doesn't require wide rims, cuz it's almost same thickness as normal calipers. Change rims to Konig Hypergram, that's the best value for money rims now. 15x8 rims are usually for drag cars or race cars using slick radials. Those 15x8 mostly sold on the market are cheap fakes and heavy.

Stretched tires negatives:
- not much play left on the sidewall hence will feel stiffer/less comfortable.
- treads on the sides will wear out sooner.
- no protection on rims cuz the rims protrude out more than the tires.
- more risk of puncture to the sidewall as it's more exposed.
So in summary, not recommended at all to run stretched tires.

Okay frm what I understand is

- There's not much 205 / 15 available.
- Even 8JJ is wide to fit 205, and if it does, it'll still be stretched.
- 7JJ fits better with 205.

So my solution is to get 7JJ, and 205 to get best fitment, clear my Evo3 brakes, and not worry bout stretching as much, right?

The only 205/15 which I know off in the market currently are Westlakes Sports. The rest such as my Acceleras favours 16's more.

But I dont feel like going 16's because its heavy.

https://www.tiresandco.ca/tire-equivalence-advice.html

The sport rim width for 8" is totally not suitable for 205mm. Min need at least 215mm.

Rim width Minimum tire width Ideal tire width Maximum tire width
5,0 Inches 155 mm 165 or 175 mm 185 mm
5,5 Inches 165 mm 175 or 185 mm 195 mm
6,0 Inches 175 mm 185 or 195 mm 205 mm
6,5 Inches 185 mm 195 or 205 mm 215 mm
7,0 Inches 195 mm 205 or 215 mm 225 mm
7,5 Inches 205 mm 215 or 225 mm 235 mm
8,0 Inches 215 mm 225 or 235 mm 245 mm

The most ideal sport rim for 205mm should be around 6,5" or 7" width.

Use 7jj and just 195 tires so got many better choices. Westlake is China brand tires, not good, and you cannot just be relying on 1 tire brand/model.

If die2 wanna use 205, just get a set of konig wheels. They comes with 7.5jj, problem solved.
