when i go and get my 40gb i saw at least 2 unit in bernard's place problem with the lense , bernard told me those 2 unit  intensively used for ahem dvd movie by their owner

I cannot belief this, my ps3 cannot read disk after i upgrade the firmware. I try COD4 and resistance, it shows nothing at the game section

Mine was SG unit, 80G. The funny thing is I only used my PS3 to play COD4, resistance and black hawk down BD. Itu pn cannot tahan

erm from what i've googled thru i noticed only mach from asia and some mach from middle east having this prob. as of that time, didnt stuble upon anyone having prob from US or Japan or Europe

erm the part cost me about 40++ usd

tot got experience fixing console. just to add here what i did with my ps3 before the lense go kaput,

1. play blu ray
2. play ps3 game
3. play dvd
4. plah *ahem* dvd

since i got it repaird, i don't dare play the *ahem* dvd again. I only play dvd also because of the upscale capability. dvd looks much better on ps3. also i don't switch off my ps3 with disc inside anymore.

just to share an interesting story with you guys..

me : uncle, can u repair ps3 lense?

uncle at sg wang : ps3 lense? no lah, sony don't release the part yet.

me : if i have the lense can you change for me?

uncle : no lah, we dont know yet how to do it. u play pirated ps2 games is it?

me : (stupid uncle) no lah uncle i just play *ahem* dvd on it. but never give me any prob, suddenlly lense kaput.

uncle : who told you to play pirated dvd? u know kah, sony put a system "to lock ur system" if you play pirated dvd. PS3 knows it.

me : (can you get any more stupid than that?) ya kah uncle? but ps3 never tell me anything, warning or anything. how lah now uncle?

uncle : no no.. they never tell you one. they just simply "lock" your system. have to wait lah. you look form internet lah, maybe they have software to "unlock" it.
