Hi all

Not sure where to ask for advice so I am going to post it here. Hope you guys can help with this.

I have started renovations for my 2 storey house recently and I have gotten approval from MBPJ through Pelan Setara.

I then started my renovation but then discovered halfway that the roof was in very bad shape and needed to be replaced as it was leaking terribly.

Then my contractor has advised me to build a new roof but this roof design was not going to be the same as the old roof (due to its old design 30 years ago) on which I took his advice. Upon completion of the roof then MBPJ came and asked us to halt all renovation works as it did not follow the original renovation plans approved. So now I have to stop all renovations and am instructed to go down to MBPJ to meet the officer. sad.gif

So my question is:

1) What should I do next in this case as my next best option?

2) If there is a fine, who would be responsible for this, owner or the contractor? Since the contractor did not mention building a new roof would be beyond the Pelan Setara approval limits

3) How long will it take if I have to redo all the paperwork etc.?

Anyone who has encountered this kind of situation before? All your comments or advice is much appreciated. Thanks!!

1. Go to meet the mbpj officer and sort it out. If they require a new plan, then get it done.

2. Owner .... being the registeted proprietor. How you want to claim the money from him later, you have to discuss it after the reno..

3. It deennds on your new design whether it conform to their requirement.

Would your mind sharing the before and after pics of your roof for our benefit? What would constitute a design change and how substantial was the change in design etc?
