Hi guys,

How do you pick an auspicious wedding date?

Myself and my wife is not extremely superstitious but generally wants a good date.

So far I'm only searching online but could you share some reliable ways or website that I can reference from?

Thank you so much guys!

I myself had done some research and picked a date on 31/8/2022. However, I'm not sure JPN can do the external ROM since it is public holiday. I select based on Chinese bazi & tongshu.

These are what the elderly peoples at temples used to tell me.

Avoid any wedding on 6th Month of Chinese Calendar. 6 resembles half of the year = it signifies the split in relationship & the marriage will not last.
Avoid any wedding date during the period of the Ching Ming month. That period is reserves for the paying respect to the ancestors who have passed away.
Avoid any wedding date during the period of 7th Month of Chinese Calendar. This month is reserves for the wandering souls.
Avoid also the wedding period around Dong Zhi time, the elderly told me Dong Zhi is actually the new year festival for the souls in after world.

The most popular dates for wedding usually will be the 8th Month & 9th Month of the Chinese Calendar , usually preferred date to overlapped with the public holidays or school holidays so that the families, relatives & friends can join your wedding reception.

We originally wanted to do it on october or november 2022 but we were too afraid of the unpredicted weather on these months due to past experience of other events/ holidays and weather historical as ours is a garden wedding, actually a mix of indoor and outdoor. Im thinking of early january 2023 now but have mixed feelings about it. Sigh.

Yeap, I generally select date based on this too. 31/8/2022 is 5th day of 8th lunar month. It's Success day with many auspicious stars such as happiness star. Problem now is that, couldn't get the ROM done on public holiday.. JPN just told me so.. Sigh.. Need to find next date which I couldn't find any as good as 31/8/2022...

If the element of weather is important to the date selection, try to avoid the following :-

1) period close to Deepavali
2) 9th Month of Chinese Calendar - 9 Emporers Birthday

These 2 periods above are associated with heavy rain - the rubber farmers will tell you these stuff.

You best dry period should the period 100 days before the commence of the durian season. The duration for durian to ripe from the durian flowers to blossom needs 100 days. Before the trees can produce the flower buds , the trees need to be stressed to a period of drought. If based on this observation, your best dry period should be around Feb to March.

Normally ppl will have tendency to avoid element of weather for their wedding reception because it is totally unpredictable.

The ROM & Ceremony date can be 2 different days. If you are particular on the stars selection, I believe that date should be your ceremony date because on the ceremony day, you need to bow to the Heaven as the witness to the marriage.

For ROM you can select it on weekend (Sat & Sun), normally shall be earlier than ceremony date.

ROM = official registration with JPN, non religious related
Ceremony date = religious related. Normally the wedding reception will be held on same day as ceremony date.

Thanks for explanation. Ya, I understand the difference of ROM and traditional ceremony.
I selected the date for official ROM as I think it marks the most important event in a marriage as it is a legal procedure just like signing a lifetime contract! Hehe..
I plan to do all tea ceremony, and banquet on the same day itself. Settle once and for all.

I done my date selection based on Joey yap's books too.
I dont plan to do outdoor or garden, afraid of weather and heat. Prefer to be at hotel ballroom overlooking any nice views etc.

its quite impossible to choose good date for wedding dinner which requires weekend dates.

so what the fengshui ppl recommend is ROM on a good date, the dinner can be held on weekends , even if not so good date.

so ROM can be anytime as long as good date - since you say you not superstitious, good date u can just buy joey yap desktop calender, find a "SUCCESS" date which is good for ALL activities to do it (some success dates are not good for all activities)

if you are slightly more superstitious, you need to find somone to look at both your bazi and choose a more suitable date based on your bazi.

Yeap.. based on Joey Yap's, I had picked 31 August 2022 which is
1. Success Day (Golden Lock)
2. Sky Happiness Star on Water Dragon Day (Ren Chen)
3. however, 28 Constellations is Basket day which is not good for marriage day.

Below is my summary from the date selection criterias based on Bazi:

1. Avoid Year Breaker day
2. Avoid Month Breaker day
3. Male Personal Breaker day
4. Female Personal Breaker day
5. Avoid hour clashes with the day
6. Avoid loneliness star for female
7. Avoid solitary star male
8. Choose Sky Happiness star
9. Avoid Stem/Branch Clash between Day & Hour pillar
10. Choose Success/Stable/Open Day
11. Right hour for Religious/Signing ceremony (Happy Spirit & Golden Lock)
