Yes, in Arab countries, they are called shawarma. It variations in Turkey and many European countries are called doner kebab.
I prefer the doner ones as it normally served with lettuce and onion which give more textured taste...
shawarma can be quite plain since they normally will mix the meat with potato fries as filler....
