Last year before he got the job, Ralf was saying Shaw is not United's best LB.. said he wouldnt take CR7 or Messi because they are too old..  now he playing both Shaw n CR7 lol.. something is really wrong

We are now seeing the price of Ole's management.

A responsibility free holiday camp for a group of players who call themselves United DNA that is safe from criticism and whose position at the club cannot be touched. A group whose collective egos are big enough to directly challenge any new manager who trespasses into their territory. They may say they are playing for the club, but that is only because they think the club is really themselves. Now at the slightest hint of pressure of raising the standards they go the mutiny route. Many of them are really looking like they are not good enough.

And not just the players. The "jobs for the boys" backroom of Ole who he deems world class but without any real qualifications. Yes, Carrick and McKenna are gone. Nobody really knows what Mike Phelan's role is. He does not take charge of training. He doesn't do press conferences. And he doesn't do game management. Darren Fletcher is a Technical Director at the biggest club in the world without any prior experience. And he must be the first Technical Director to put on a tracksuit and shout instructions at players during games.

Suddenly everyone's position at the club is under threat and they need to band together against the manager.
Fans say Mourinho was toxic. I would say Ole has been the worst manager post Ferguson and we are in a worse state now than post Mourinho.

The Board has to come out publicly to back the manager in making difficult decisions. This will not end well if some Board members privately support some of the dressing room prima donnas.

On a separate note, I am not too worried about team performance yet. I remain hopeful.
We can't be going in on Rangnick every time we don't get a win. So let me break down what I saw in the Villa game and where the club is at :

- Manchester United are a club in dire need of tactics, of new culture and of new direction when RR came in. That hasn't changed.
- Ronaldo's interview basically confirmed what the fans knew, there are dressing room groupies at United that has been allowed to apply a sub-standard ethic and mentality for the past 3 years and they control the dressing room.
- Has RR made any changes to tactics or culture in the past 2 months? Yes for tactics.
- To quote posters here, it is apparent that Rangnick was the team playing his way of football but they don't seem to have the fitness to do it across a football game. United keep reverting back to type late in the first half and the second half. The lack of fitness plays into some players treating United as a holiday home all these while and still getting selected.
- Is Rangnick changing the culture? Yes but slowly because he has to deal with dressing room rebels and doesn't get the respect he should as boss because he is interim. That makes it difficult for him and where players like Ronaldo wants the change.
- Suddenly, we have the entire English core "out injured" coincidentally. Whatever the reason : Maguire, AWB, Shaw, Rashford, etc isn't starting. So maybe the manager is making the difficult decisions to bench players who are not ready to play the way he wants.
- You remove the core of the players starting for United the past 3 seasons, it will impact team performance. It looks like short term pain for hopefully long term gain. What you are seeing is some players no longer getting automatically selected every week and the team learning to play without them.
- Varane & Lindelof look decent as a partnership. We are very obviously lacking that midfield steel but that has been a problem for the past 2 years.
- So with all to do, I think RR is doing the things he can but United are such a big pile of shit that it will take time. Ronaldo has said it will take time. Of course, everything must be time bound and I will stick to my guns and say March earliest or end of the season to judge.

Cause rr doesn't have trophies background. If put conte Zidane or high profile ppl, interim also ppl will listen

Let's talk about progress.

Yes, RR has come under fire from certain quarters especially after matches we did not win.
He has since played 10 matches with the same team Ole had.

- In 10 games, he has 6 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss. Strength of the opposition may be a talking point but you can only play who you have in front of you. The results are a positive in us trying to get Top 4.
- He is shaking up the dressing room. Underperformers can now be benched regardless of nationality instead of being guaranteed starters. In this, we have seen some players step up when given chances. Dalot for example.
- He is showing big name management. CR7 could have been a drama in itself but he handled it well and reminded Ronaldo everything was done for the team.

Slowly, we are showing progress. A lot will depend if we get midfield reinforcements in Jan. We may also bleed some players who I like that were not given a proper chance (VDB), but at this point I just want the club to be set on the right track for the remainder of this season. We will re-evaluate in the summer on how RR does.

We are clueless in the 1st half, like a bunch of players playing with each other for the first time. Atletico were very compact, always 5 at the back, and their midfielders not shy to commit a fouls. I don't recall any of our movement in side their penalty box. Just string of stray crosses between 2 flanks. A giant 7 feet striker can't get any one of those.

The 2nd half were much better for us. Few nice exchanges between attacking players but without any meaningful attempt, except the goal. Good substitution again by Rangnik.

Good result indeed, more than we deserved. Atletico the better team. The away goal rule do not apply anymore. So expect Atletico will playing counter attacking, defend deep, with the fast front 3.

He came on with fresh legs so tiredness doesn't factor in. Rashford doesn't make the run to attack the space and instead jogs into position, missing the clear chance as a consequence.
