United today are where Liverpool were in the late 90s and 2000s. A lot of history for the fans to say we are one of the big boys but never seriously challenging for the title. Sometimes we'd pick up a Cup win. Only United have more money to blow due to the size of the fanbase. A lot of bad transfers but sometimes we'd get it right. Like Liverpool with Fernando Torres and United with Bruno Fernandes. And if United don't get moving, Fernandes might head for the door like Torres.

Players not backing the coach is a biproduct of bad management under Ole. Player power ruled as Ole wanted to be everyone's friend and were allowed to form dressing room cliques to influence the club. The damage from Ole's time will take time to fix. I think Rangnick has done well for what he's covered in the past few months.

Ronaldo is definitely not past his best. Every United game, I actually see Ronaldo bringing the attack together with his runs. In the past 5 games, he should have been averaging an assist if his teammates had scored easy chances and a goal if his teammates had passed to him instead of shooting themselves. Why Ronaldo looks bad in the media now is because the number 9 position for United is a graveyard shift for the past few seasons. Incredibly isoalated under Ole. Rangnick seems to have implemented a system which generates chances and Ronaldo has been off form to miss his chances. No doubt there are many times his teammates should have passed to him when he was open on goal.

Now let's go on Liverpool which gives me a nice change of view. You mentioned Mane and Salah when talking about big players and I have no doubt these two are the stars of the Liverpool fanbase. My own opinion is that the most important player in the Liverpool front three is Roberto Firmino. The guy doesn't get enough credit for what he does and Liverpool seem to have an added dimension when he plays. Jota is a fantastic alternative off the bench. I still have doubts on Thiago's suitability in Liverpool's style of play though. He just seems to be a piece of a puzzle that will fit far better at City than liverpool's gegenpressing.
