Southampton at 8.30pm tonight. After all the 4am kickoffs, happy to see a primetime one.
Weakest part of the squad remains the CDM position which the Board refused to fix. Thre is no distibution base and the CBs will continue to try knock long balls up to the forwards. If United fail to qualify for the CL, it is due to the cowardly Board who decided not to take actions to help secure 4th spot qualification. Hiding behind the new perm manager appointment so they can tell him who to buy.
My main focus on this game is the CB-CDM combination. Varane is a must. He is the only world class defender in that bunch. Lindelof playing actually helps with the distribution due to his passing range. Maguire playing may not be all that bad. Southampton are deadly from set pieces and his aerial ability may factor in to things. Unless James Ward Prowse gets direct freekicks onto our goal.
It's a very offensive formation. McTominay is the sole player in the pivot. How we distribute will be dependent on how he does in the role in feeding the players in front of him.
