I think RR made a wrong decision to request to BUY a DM.
It is very hard for an interim manager to buy a player, apatah lagi Manchester United punya controlling management.
If he request to loan in a DM, then the management might approve.

Report – How John Murtough ruined Man United deal for Haaland

According to news outlet Football Insider, John Murtough is the man responsible for Manchester United failing to get the Erling Haaland transfer deal done.

The incident occurred in 2018 when Haaland was not yet a familiar name for football fans across the globe. An upcoming youngster, he could have joined United for a mere £3million. (h/t The Express)

Erik ten Hag is also among the favourites for the job, and his work at Ajax has won the admiration of Rangnick.

"I don't know him to start with as a person, but I've seen how Ajax have developed since he's been there," Rangnick said.

"I know about the work he did while he was at Bayern Munich and it's obvious he's one of the top coaches in Europe but there are a few others.

"We've not spoken about any new manager so far and therefore we've not spoken about him."

If he want him at United he should get him.. i personally would rather not, plenty of better striker out there..
