I have a Wall Bathroom tap that I wanted to replace and install with another Bathroom tap that has a diverter

The question would be, can a Teflon tape help gap the 3mm difference or do I need to buy an adapter / replace the 14mm pipe?
Or perhaps a 3mm thick O ring?
Or a combo of both

Replacing the 14mm pipe should be last resort though as it seems the pipe itself was built before the wall was put up ( meaning the tiles was put in afterwards, giving a very narrow gap to work around the pipe )

If adapter is needed, what would be the correct technical term for it? something like just a ring to screw around the pipe so it fits

You need to use something similar to this but with inner thread on one side .....

Remove the entire old fixture from the wall, and use the brass fixture from the new fitting. The "Bravat" (old) brass piece has the hexagon shape because it can be removed with an Allen key.

It is a very large allen key. If you don't have an allen key, find a bolt that fits, and then grip the bolt (thread part) with vice grips to tighten the brass part of the tap to the pipe in the wall.
