Hi Philip,

Glad to receive your respone.

Erm..I'm actually using it S602...but a lot of short there...i wish to upgrade for my shooting..

Wondering:-

a. whether Get a Ultra-Zoom Prosumer Cam like Lumix FZ-50,S6500,S9500 or DSLR??
- Ultra-Zoom Prosumer do have all in one,It's easier to bring a long one built-in lens for all purpose from wide to tele.Just think about how to choose it...which is much better in the market...cause i'm not much experience in choosing a Cam.

- What's the Huge diference in between Prosumer and DSLR in your opinion (though i did ask in other threads but wish to know what philip think)?

- I'm not a Pro in the industry, just for my hobbies, don't think will have a slot of lenses in this stage

b. will the Prosumer cam produce a DSLR quality?

c. if Prosumer might be your suggestion which model will you highly recommended and why so?

d. same, if the DSLR which will you highly recommeded to fit the terms of quality, nice price and feature?

Hope to hear from you friend...

Atlast, wish to listen some opinion of the cam that you owned, S602, S9500 and the DSLR as well

Thanks and much appreciate here. thumbup.gif

What is your budget? Just get whatever you can afford. because prosumer and dslr have their own pro and con

Prosumer -
Pros: fixed lense, super zoom, no need to buy lens, built in macro capability, live view via LCD, some are built in image stabilizer, no dust problem
cons: small sensor size, too much noise in high ISO, slower performance (slow auto focus)

DSLR -
Pros: Greater lens versatility, better quality, Better performance (faster autofocus, shorter shutter delay, faster continuous shooting, and a bigger memory buffer), Greater flexibility (Access to a much broader range of accessories)
Cons: Generally can't use the LCD for framing, expensive, Increased complexity, bigger and heavier, Dust on sensor (unless you buy those with dust reduction system), IS lens very costly.

I have the same thinking as yours previously tongue.gif

Yes, photography is about creativity and perception, camera just a tool that help you to achieve. however camera is important too.
low end camera and high DSLR used by good photographer can produce nice photo. if you give a high end camera to poor photographer, definately the person cant produce nice picture.

c. if Prosumer might be your suggestion which model will you highly recommended and why so?

I am not sure, because i am not familiar with current model. maybe other can help.

I will recommend Sony A100, 2nd hand Nikon D50 (no more in market), canon 350d or 400d. These are all entry level. good thing about A100 is its built in sensor shift image stabilizer. Nikon and Canon more easy to get accessories and 2nd staff because more users in malaysia market.

My opinion is try to avoid D40 or D40x because 3 focus points and no built in auto focus motor are big NO NO to me.

I am happy with s602, but a bit hard to use in low light (unless use tripod). then I bought a Fuji F10 and the low light is so great. so i decided upgrade to S9500 which i think is the same quality in high ISO as F10. Unfortunately, the noise in S9500 is terrible, i dont know why.

after poison by my colleague, i sold s9500 and get Nikon D70s then my dSLR journey began. smile.gif

Hey Philip,

Thanks and appreciate so much...

Wow..seems i met a very friendly and helpful friend here...nice to meet you and give me so much of precious opinion..

Act. My company own a Canon D10 so-called Entry DSLR...i'm happy with it so..One thing i feel not comfortable is the Lens Switch..mean,i need to bring a long atleast 3-4 lenses to fit the needs..like Macro,Tele,Wide Angle and so on...

Besides,i'm still using the S602..really happy with it..though it's old tech, but produce a quite nice picture...Ya,always low light shooting problem..but so far so good even though i'm only using ISO400.

So at last,i'm still wish to get the Prosumer cam.So far, recently in the market which own a good reviews and good features that fit my needs are these both Fujifilm Finepix S9600 and Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50.

Mind to give me some opinion and which s'ld i invest to?

See the comparison here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_po...mcfz50&show=all

user posted image
Things I like in Fuji S9600:
1. bigger sensor
2. lower noise in high ISO
3. 28mm wide angle
4. well known Fujifilm SuperCCD V HR sensor
5. higher shutter speed - 1/4000 sec
6. better LCD Pixels - 235,000

user posted image
Things I like in Lumix FZ50:
1. Mega O.I.S.
2. higher zoom (no important to me sine i prefer wide angle)
3. Using SD memory
4. longer shutter speed which benefit for night photography - 60 sec
5. 16:9 image aspect ratio

So you need to know what is important to you smile.gif

16:9 is not important but i like it and IS is important in tele zoom to prevent handshake.

However, low noise high ISO in S9600 can help to freeze the movement as well.

Conclusion, good to have both (low noise in high ISO + IS) tongue.gif
