nice rendition, although would prefer a grey/black interior instead of beige

For the asking price, I think it's a decent car.
Interior is ok, plastic but with texture, better than last time.
Simple design but easy on the eyes. Good interior space and boot space.
Hopefully the performance is up to par as well. Still waiting to test drive.

Only a few minor complains....

4. No handhold for low line models at the rear....but probably can fix after buy.

3. No adjustable rear seat headrest, and the built-in headrest a bit low, but then maybe it's just that I'm tall.......shorter ppl should be ok.

2. Rear boot lid interior no cover, expose all the metal and holes....but maybe can fix with aftermarket cover. Similarly, no carpeting for the rear seat back. And the boot lid seems really flimsy, 1 piece thin metal only.

1. Last issue....the rear window can only wind down 2/3. Due to the design itself where the whole glass is big and cannot fit into the bottom part of the door frame. Would have prefered they make it smaller a bit or angled like some cars so that it can wind down all the way.

All the above maybe can consider is small issue lar.......cos the car is real cheap. More worth buying than Viva.

Proton can consider have done a good job this time around.

Hopefully they'll do a highline in the future, with full specs (EBD, ABS, Twin Airbags etc) for ppl who can afford to pay a few k more. But maybe they worry it will eat into persona sales. Anyway, wonder if the planned 1.6 Saga will be available for normal user to buy.......cos at the moment they plan it for taxi only.

Hope when they do facelift in midlife of the model, mayb 3 years from now , can take into consideration buyers of current model criticism and improve on it.

All in all, 4stars out of 5 for this model. (A very good buy at it's price range)

Don't think Myvi will be total history lar....
sure the new Saga might steal some sales from the Myvi, but it will affect the Viva more though....
Myvi will still have a market......

BTW, what's the interest rate?
The price list I got states 3.99%....is that for 9 years only or for all loan?
Cos if I remember last time is 3.88% only.
Any bank can get better rates or is it standardised?

Saga should remain 1.3/1.5 only.
*
The problem with that would be that Campro does not have a 1.5 version.

Although that's not to say they can't make 1, but not really economical, since they can as easily put in 1.6.

And the Saga will need 1.6 if it's to be used as a Taxi, which is the purpose of putting the 1.6 in the Saga, according to the MD. Just hope they'll sell it to customers as well, maybe as a highline.....

H-Line....1.6CPS, ABS, EBD, ESP, Leather Seats, Sports Tuning, etc etc.

As for safety features............

I think it's not they dunwan to produce safety features for the E-line, just that it involves cost.
So they give ppl an option. But I believe they should have given another option of full safety features for some extra money. (2 airbags, abs, etc)

Not all ppl can afford an expensive new car with all the safety features.....
Esp in Malaysia, for low income families. That's what u get for salaries not increasing in tandem with cost of living.
And since public transport is not yet a really viable option in most cities other than KL, cars will remain a necessity.

Btw, any1 got pictures of the RED Sports Saga?

I dun think it's possible to stop producing the E-Line at the moment, at least not for Malaysia income.

Since the Saga is meant to be a budget model, it is targeted at the low/mid income group. And not all those in this income bracket can afford RM100-150 extra each month (assuming the difference between full safety and non).

And unfortunately, not all Malaysians are of the attitude that it's worth it to spend s little extra for the safety features. Unless the govt make it mandatory to fit Airbags/ABS on all cars, manufacturers will continue to offer models with nil/little safety features for the low end model.

Anyway, at the end of the day, safety features can help in accidents/emergency situations etc. But what is more important is driving attitude. Practice defensive driving and it can safe more lives than safety features. And PUT ON THAT SEATBELT!!!!

YEAH HAHA  icon_rolleyes.gif  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif
but wat if another car came banging into you?  unsure.gif
*
Hmmm.....let's see, if a car came banging into you, it would most likely from the back or side, righT?

In this case, ABS/Airbag also not of much use......what would be more important would be the car's structural stiffness to absorb and deflect the force of impact from the passenger cabin. This is where crumple zones/side impact bar etc come into play.....in this case, I think they would play a more important role as compared to Frontal Airbags and ABS.
Side airbags would help though..........but as it is, it's seldom offered even in more expensive imported models (excluding premium brands/high end cars etc).

On the other hand, if all Malaysians practice safety driving, more accidents can be avoided, not?

Haha....this is beginning to become a discussion on general safety of cars instead of focusing on the SAGA.... tongue.gif

Your comments are acceptable. Since it's based on the Savvy, by which means it has a rigid passenger body cell?
*
Savvy and most proton cars aren't really independent tested. So far, how well it performs under a real NCAP test remains to be seen.

I heard someone mention this Saga is 3 stars?

Anyway, if u do some research on the net, even NCAP tests got their limitations.
If I'm not mistaken (someone correct me if I'm wrong), the ratings are based on collisions involving similar sized cars...... So what would happen if it involved a small and bigger car (SUV) perhaps? It not only depends on the individual cars body stiffness, but also involves the relative stiffness and impact force between the 2.

I think that's one of the reasons there are activist groups in the UK that wants to limit the use of SUVs etc in the city...

omg...........stupid la...left hand signal. we aren't even a left hand side driving condition. mayb making such arrangement will ease them thru the procedure of changing sides when they import to UK huh  sweat.gif
*
Haha....maybe...but then their main market is still Malaysia and mostly right hand drive countries like UK for export at the moment, so it doesn't make much sense.....

European marques are the opposite in that their main markets are left hand drive...........

But I think from what most people experience, is that you'll get used to it pretty soon lar....so I don't think it's a major problem.....minor inconvenience maybe like when u wanna change gears on a manual car.

On the other hand, a major design flaw that I can see is in the rear window that can't be wind down completely.
Probably they wanted to provide a bigger window opening but end up making it smaller. Would have prefered to have it like most cars with a triangular fixed edge glass and a smaller window opening that can go all the way down....

@Hypermount,
please read my updated comments....
I don't think it is a major problem for the signal stalk to be on the left. But as a personal preference, maybe some people would want it on the right as they more used to it as it's the normal configuration on asian cars. But I'm sure it's quite fast to adjust and get used to lar....no major problem there lar....

@CEO684
I agree that frontal collision is a possibility as well.. In that case, airbags will help...but the seatbelt and crumple zone still play an equally important role.
I also agree that Proton should have given an option for customers who want the extra airbag/ABS to opt for that albeit at an extra cost.
I'm almost sure all export models to the UK etc will come with dual airbags and maybe even ABS.
